Well, I got my rebuilt ECU today and nothing changed. Dang. I noticed my tach IS jumping all over the place now. I've been checking my grounds and they all seem clean and there. More to come, sounds like I'll be pulling the injectors next.

No spark now. Hmm, took a new plug against the block trick, nada. Module is new, maybe a coil. Time to find those ohm specs....

i had the same experiance as you a car sitting for 9 years. after 9 years a lot of things can go bad any rubber pieces on the car is probabley bad spark plugs are probabley bad 9 years of sitting for a car is worse than 9 years of being a daily driver.

I will if nothing else just for testing. The tach never jumped around before. Worried that my "rebuilt" $79.99 ECU from Schucks may not be everything claimed to be?

if you had spark with the Old one, & no spark with the New one, yea, I'd say the new ones not real good.

Well, tested the coil okay (within limits) but I picked up a new one anyway. No sparky still. Hmm, took the cap back off and really looked at those cracked wires that go to the ign module. They even had a little green corrosion on them. Okay, $110 later and a rebuilt dist and Vroom! Fired right off.... then died like it did before. Hey, at least I got the spark back.

Injectors for sure now, either ECU is the same, all ign is new and spark plugs are clean and dry. I tried a trick of keeping the pedal to the floor, then backing it off, floor, off etc as I was starting it. Couple of those and it started stumbling and keeping going, sort of. Little more of that and I could keep it running pretty good. More (full throttle gives the injectors full pressure) of the same and within a couple of minutes it was idling on its own and snapping pretty good on a throttle stab. Well, the only money "wasted" was on a $80 ECU with a $30 core. Not too bad I guess. Wish I would have spent a little more time diagnosing than just throwing parts at it. I'll probably pull the injectors and have them cleaned/tested. That's only like $60-80.

So my issue was the same, injectors, but I wound up having another issue of the dist giving spotty signals. On to driving now!

glad you got it going. try running some fuel inj cleaner with the gas. I've heard good things about the fuel injector rebuil services.
