I have finally started installing my 3.08 dash from PISA. The question I have is should I cover this with 1/4 inch foam before the vinyl? I have done the instrument pod and center gauge housing and used no foam, but I am not sure about the dash. Amida, I hope you are watching, I need help.
I agree about the stitching. I wish I new a good source but I just don't want to spend the cash. It actually looks better in person. Thanks for the feed back.

spend the cash and get it done right. If you don't, you wil regret it every time you drive the car and have to look at something you don't really like ... that dash is gonna be staring you in the face everytime you get in the car
I did the dash on my 355 project using standard foam headliner glued to the dash (foam side down) with 3M 8088 contact spray adhesive. For the covering, I used Allsport Vinyl. This is the most incredible stuff in that it stretches like you will not believe. I covered both my dash and console and as you can see below, no seams or wrinkles. You only glue it around the edges, not on the foam. By using the 8088, you can stick it down, and work you way around, by pulling it off and re-sticking it downit. I did this all without the need for heat. Allsport was designed for snowmobile seats and is incredibly durable. It comes in multiple colors. Note that black is available as standard vinyl and a non-slip. I bought mine at Rochford Supplies. I am now doing a custom interior on mt 87 T-top coupe using the stuff. The dash is 94 Camaro with reworked Bonneville door panels all of which will be covered in Allsport.

You should be able to re-do that center piece with less bunching at the corners. Not sure if you can do it all without any stitching, but you might try ordering up some of this stretchy stuff Allsport. Never used it, but it might be very handy. I noticed your dash has no gelcoat, not too pretty, but I might have to try that to see if that cuts down on costs.

I got two quotes today, one was $800.00 for the dash only, and the other was $1400 for the dash and doors. That is with vinyl. The second shop had lambo and street rods in work. This is crazy money but I am about to call 'uncle' and take the car to the second shop.

Good quotes. Keep it local at a shop that does good work, shipping out will be costly to/fr Hawaii. Inform them of the recommended padding thickness on all parts.
I dropped off all of the parts today. I should have them back in a couple weeks. I felt better about the price once Amida said they were good quotes. stay tuned

Good call. Make sure you agree on where you want the stitching & where you don't want the stitching; you'll be surprised sometimes. Pisa dash with stitching around gauge pod:

I use headliner material 3/16"-1/4" foam side down as backing with the foam glued to the dash. I do not put glue on the good side of the headliner material, but only on the edges of the dash. This way you can stretch it. I was given this clue by an upholstery shop. If you use foam it is much more difficult to stretch. If you look at my post, you can stretch Allsport around some amazing curves without the need for seams or heat. Good luck! Jim
