I think these oil filter relocation kits should be standard equipment on both the 2.8 and the Duke. Seriously.
I like the idea of the twin filter application. Besides the extra filtration it also adds to the oil capacity and perhaps aids a little bit with oil cooling as well.
Not that there are any problems (that I’m aware of) with the kits supplied by this particular manufacturer, but are there others to choose from as well?

We carry kits marketed by Spectre, same company as those cold air intakes Autozone sells.
The Spectre kit includes a pump for draining the car as well, which I believe installs at the drain plug. So you can relocate both the oil filter and your drain location. I'm not too big on the Spectre brand though.

This may be a dumb question (as I've never used a remote oil filter), but how necessary is a pump for draining the oil when the oil filter is relocated?
Not necessary at all. The system drains just like before. The only difference is the filter can be located in an easy to remove location.
I believe he was simply referring to a pump that is included with that particular kit.
I have a remote oil filter and a remote oil cooler. Oil lines all over the place. Throw in the turbo oil and drainback lines and I've got a bundle of snakes.

On the Fiero its not necessary, I can easily reach the drain plug without raising the car.
The idea behind that particular kit though is to make it so an entire oil change can be performed just by reaching under the hood. The picture they put on the packaging shows both the drain and the oil filter being located high up into the engine bay, so performing an oil change just means flipping the switch and pumping out the drain pan.
Not a bad idea, I just don't trust the system that much.
