Im parting out my car. The engine is gone and harness. I want to take my windows, door skins, and side mirrors. I cant get to the nuts for the mirrors b/c the window is in the way. they are electric windows, and I cant figure out a way to manually get them down. anyone know any tricks? I tried to take the door all the way off thinking I could get it apart, but the pins are to hard to get at. I'm at a wall now.
thanks!

If you have the wires to the window, I suppose that you could just hook up 12 volts. One way to put them up. Switch the wires to put them down.

Tony is correct. If you look inside the door you will see where the wiring is attached to the motor. Pull the plug off of the motor.
You'll see 2 pins. Take 2 insulated wires and touch them to the pins. The window will either try to go up or down. Just switch pins as you need it.
If you have and extra motor connector or are not planning on keeping the window wiring harness then just cut the harness wires off where they go into the door and you have all the wire you'll need to reach a battery.
You need to do this from the inside of the door because the window goes down over the outside of the motor.

How bout a good brick. Always worked for me . I had to do this with a volvo. (Not the brick). I found the wires going out of the door and put 12 volts to it and viola it was down.

Nick, are you keeping the window motor/register for each side? I am installing electric windows in my 88 that originally came with manual windows. The donor motor/regulator came off an 85GT that had over 180K miles on it and the parts are quite sloppy. I am looking for these parts with less wear and tear.

Not that it matters but if you want the door off for some reason you can just pull the hinges loose from the car.
Pull the c-pillar trim. ( the L- shaped trim that runs along the inside bottom of the door jamb)
You will see some holes in the chassis that alow you to get the the bolts from the inside.
The ones that come out from the outside can be removed by pulling the front fender liner.
I think they are 13mm and 15mm.

I can keep the motors and send them to you, however I have to get the door apart. Also, my motors arnt as strong as new. If I were you, I would buy new ones to put in. I want to remove the glass, but this is proving to be very difficult.

is there any advantage to taking the door off? thanks.

so if the battery trick works, any ideas on how to get the window disconnected. There are these white spool looking knobs attatched at the bottom, their pretty tough. not sure how to get them off. I could do that, the window should pull right out.

If you have the outside skin off just use an angle grinder and knock the heads off the rivets to get the white stops off.

If you want to keep the knobs you will want to take your time so you don't melt them. Then to reuse them you jut replace with a bolt.

I forget how a Fiero window is attached to the regulator, but usually its either 1 or 2 nuts holding the glass channel (metal mounted to the bottom of glass) to the mechansim then you can just take the glass out the top.

I only need the regulators. I just ordered 4 new motors, 2 for the 86 and 2 for the 88. I was more interested in the regulators that are attached to the motors if you don't mind parting with them. The only problem I have is being on call for work. If you need help getting them apart PM me and I will try to help if time permits.

all see what I can do, getting anything out of the doors is proving a lot more work then I was anticipating.

It is easier when you have done it once and figured out the details. I looked at my regulators again and I will be able to use them if I need to. I will be away this weekend but if you need some help next week I should be able to lend a hand.
