After following this thread and your progress its sad to see your Fiero be put up for sale but I can understand that a new addition to the family can force a lifestyle change. Hope that you get a fair price for all of the work that you put into it. Good luck

well i tryed to sell it but pepole are just to poor around here so he we go agin today i started the new Y pipe for the turbo and im taking apart the interior so i car reupolster the seats and install the new ECU and the Stereo System i will post pics as soon as i figure out whats wrong with my PIP
ok i contacted Tiago and he says his 3.4l at 8psi made 270hp but he goes on to say Tiago said "With correct fuel and timing they will take alot of boost. I ran as much as 15 psi on mine" so i will be running at around 250hp on a 3.4l turbo until..............................lol
Tiago is running an air to air intercooled 3.4L. He also uses a cryo cooler to ice his heat exchanger. Anything over about 9 psi on a 3.4L makes intercooling a must. I would not want to push the 3.4L above 300HP. Its just a best guess estimate but with a cast crank and smallish rods better to play it safe than sorry. The 3.4L responds great to turbochaging, and I agree that its because the engine doesn't flow real well in stock trim especially when you use the Fiero plenum.

How do you plan on running ic piping with the turbo angled like that?
the compressor side can rotate. forgot to rotate it for the picture. the compressor outlet will be pointing down and from there its just a matter of piping. and if you realy want to see just keep checking my build out. nice to know some ones looking.

Howdy all, I just found this thread VIA Fieros NW. I must say having now 5 years of turbo experience ,that motor would have no problem spooling your old T45. Many people with the same car I have (Talon, Eclipse, Laser, Lancer EVO-same motor as the triplets) the T45 is a normal mod supporting over 500HP when tuned right on our 2.0L I4 with 7.8-8.5 compression (depending on year). True the 4G63 engine turns up to 7250 before fuel cut hits, but the turbo still spools before 4000. Your 3.4 with 9:1 would make that spool around 3500, but you wouldn't see much power because the turbos efficiency is at a much higher PSI than the 9 you are running. My stock turbo is a TD04 with a 14B wheel, which is significantly smaller than a standard Garret T3/T4, and I'm still cranking out about 280-300 crank HP @ 18-20 PSI, and still not dyno tuned. I only have my laptop, DSMLink ECU, and MAF-Translator, and seat of the pants to tell me whats going on. I'm running only my stock TINY sidemount intercooler, which I need to upgrade right away... If I had known what I know now about turbos, I would of kept the Fiero, and saved for this swap... It seems like a screaming mod, but I would of totally went with an air/water intercooler, and got rid of the trunk entirely lol. Just curious are you still selling it, or decided to keep it? I would love to see some dyno sheets off this build too.

well honestly i was for sale for 5000.00 a fu<king steal and no one was interested. and so i decided the new baby will just ride in the trunk. lol JOKE. so im continuing the build. mostly because my wife said i could keep it . if i sold it now it would be for 9000.00 interested??
well today i jacked up the car to install the under glow and decided while i got the car in the air there is more i can do. so i installed the new high flow fuel pump sorry no pics i was in to much of a hurry... it was a pain in the A** to drop that fuel tank. also re-replaced the fuel filter while i was down there might as well. then finnished the under glow kit agin no pics want to wait till i get the car running.
tommarow turbo oil lines. and cleaning up the lose wires from the 7730 swap. im hoping to get my V-band flange & clamp any day now so i can finnish the exhaust. thanks for tunning in check back latter.

its a bit ranny lately not much done the last 2 days. here is the progress removed these for better compartment cooling
heres what it looks like.
i ran the oil lines, air preassure/vacume lines and the intercooler piping. also installed the airfillter
that silver knob is for adjustable boost it leeks out air pressure to trick the wastegate to think your running 8psi when your really running ....... still to come lol
got kinda close to the shifter linkage
got an 88 4cly ecm tray so i finnaly got the inside back together. the red box is my underglow kit i will be mounting bolth boxes in the center glove box
still waiting on my v-band clamp and flange so i can finnish the exhaust. i will try to get the heat shelds made here shortly stay tunned.

ok today sep 5 is my birthday and i bought me an intercooler Core Size 21" X 5.5" X 2.5"
i will be putting this where the stock cat goes lots of room with no exhaust there. and will be mounting 2 fans on the back of the intercooler for obvious reasons (intercolling and compartment cooling in town) here are the fans
well thats all for today still waiting on an exhaust flange to finnish up

For sure, keep the updates coming. I'm wondering if your at all worried about rain water and leaves and pine needles falling onto your turbo, it will sure smell, and probably promote corrosion. Personally, I would make some sord of sheild between it and the vent. Your work does look very quality and well planned from these pictures. Only thing I would change that I see is the under glow, they just aren't for me.
You may want to attempt to fabricate a shroud and use one fan centrally located on your intercooler because the buisness area of the blades are so widely spaced on your fans you're going to have a large area of poor airflow beneath the hubs.

sorry the fans are only 7" inches across i should have said that. i will be useing 2 or 3 of them the part your talking about is only 4sq inches. however a duct might work better ill keep it in mind if i have any problems

even with the vent backs in you still get pine nedles in the vents and through in tho the engine bay and the engine bay will be hotter, so am i woried ....NO but i'll let you know if i have any problems of course. thanks for the concern
