I would pitch in if that is what it would take for you to stand up to one of your challenges. I for one was really dissappointed that you simply backed down to Archie like you did. I would have thought alot more of you if you would have simply stated that your challenge didn't involve any financial stakes but you still stood behind your challenge.
So let us know when you are going to stand behind one of your challenges and if I can make it I will buy you dinner or give you some gas money to help you afford it.
Gas money does not help me afford a $5000 challenge that archie gave me, you guys are throwing things WAY out of proportion if your still bringing up that crap he played on me. No fiero I have ever built has been worth 1/3 that, and no race would ever be worth me risking that sort of money at this point in my life. Sorry to all that can not seem to see this.
I never backed out of a friendly race with archie, thats all I was looking for at the first and thats all I was looking for when I asked for a race, "anywhere in the midwest, any time", and I eluded for racing for pinks (which honestly for any v8 guy would be pure suicide for the wallet if they were to lose).

It takes 2 to tango, archie wouldnt have anything to do with a "for fun" race, and I obviously would, so I dont understand why you think less of me. I never once "turned down the challenge" I merely said I could never under any situations race for that sort of money. But, even now your reading this and interpreting it in your head the way "you want to see it" which is just the way people did in that archie thread.

I never "talked" anything, I merely asked for some type of 1/4 mile run to be posted. I never said "I would race you" or that "my stuff is faster than yours" or anything, I was just trying to be witty when asking for a time. NO CHALLENGE was put forth, no intention of a challenge was put forth, this is just a continuation of that stupid archie crap for months ago.

Dude, calm down. I never said that you did say you were faster than me. When you said you live your life a 1/4 mile at a time and you would love to see what it can do in the 1/4. I took it as a challenge and called you on it. If you don't want to race it is no big deal. I am not calling you a chicken or degrading you in anyway. Whatever happend between you and Archie, is between you and Archie!! This is not a continuation of anything. I'm not a follower. I lead my own path, and do things my way.

I just fiqured that this could have been a nice and friendly showdown of your 3800sc vs my sbc. If you can't do it at this time for whatever reasons you may have, maybe it will happen in the near future.

Wow! This plus the chip in from others is a great offer to Darkhorizon. Kind of a win win. But he has set his reputation as a V8 people hater with many many sarcastic comments on almost any V8 thread. So he can't be surprised when people jump on him. Just has been more calm after the huge Archie's blooper.

I dont see the archie crap as a "blooper" I meant what I said and I stand behind itl.

prostreet505 Your build up has been well done and well documented. Keep the info and results coming.
prostreet505 darkhorizon I would like to see you guys run at the track, not for any bragging rights, but to enjoy the racing and have fun. Don't let others turn this into an unpleasant thread. Maybe other midwest guys can coordinate and have a fiero track day together with you two.

I will keep the results and info updated.
I would love to have a fiero track day at great lakes dragway, but you can reply to that topic here.
Members of PFF, please do not turn this into an unpleasent flame war because of certain individuals that might post. I know it is hard to bite your lip and not say anything sometimes, but please try and refrain from the personal attacks on certain people. The attacks just makes an unpleasent thread.
I think this thread has alot of useful information that can be applied to different engines and builds. So please, lets not get this thread thrown in the can.

I guess I can keep the thread going some by posting some pictures of the install into the car, since this is the car that the engine is going to be dynoed in.
Here is the engine, trans and all the accessories ready to be mounted to the cradle:
Here is the engine and trans mounted to the cradle:
Here is the engine in its new temporary home until after break-in and dyno run. Then this set-up is getting transfered to the wifes 86 GT:
And before everybody starts asking, The engine compartment is not going to look this crappy when it's done. I still have to install the new braided fuel, coolant, and vacuum lines along with hiding all the wiring. So it will look 100 times better. I just wanted to hook up the fuel and ignition so I could test fire the engine, and when it fired up, all I can say is WOW!!!
More progress to come......

You know you gotta post the video right? I dont have to remind you.....

I did install the front and rear GT bumpers already. I still have to get the side ground effects and my quarter scoops. Hopefully that will be done before summer. My camera takes movies, but they don't have any sound. It's a cheap and old camera.

Looks great. Thanks for keeping up with the thread.
I was wondering, do you have a cap in the back for putting in water? I have an in-line filler cap and have been thinking about replacing it with a modified stock setup off of a Duke. That way I can change the thermostat without pulling the hose off the intake. I also ran my hose to the front of the compartment but like your setup better and may change mine later just to make it easier to check the water and oil, I have to watch checking the oil when the car is warm or I will burn my arm on the hose.

Very Nice Lots of Chrome. Is this an 84 car? Just wondering based on hose routing.
It is a 84, I just added the 85 GT bumper covers.

I do not have a fill cap in the rear. I fill and bleed the cooling system from the radiator. I have had good luck with bleeding the air out of the cooling system at the radiator. Plus with no coolant fill in the engine compartment, it gives the engine a cleaner look. One more advantage of filling and bleeding at the radiator is that you don't get no coolant spilled on the engine, then I don't have to clean all the coolant off the chrome in the engine compartment.
Thanks to everyone for all the compliments and advice throughout this build. I am planning on taking this car and engine to the 25th, along with that will be all the reciepts and dyno sheet from the engine. I will post the dyno results as soon as I break the engine in a bit.

Thanks for a real nice build thread Craig. You really endured some BS along the way and I'm looking forward to seeing how your very pretty SBC does on the dyno. I'm still betting 300

Later this evening Dozol will post a video of the engine running. Hopefully this will give you an idea how healthy a 305 can be. I also took him for a ride in the car, because I am building another engine like this for his car.

Unfortunately, I did not get to the dyno yet. I have been so wrapped up in Dozol's build that it has not left me with much time. Check out his build and you will see why.
I should have enough miles on the engine within the next month to do a dyno run. Honestly, I would like to do a dyno run at a upcoming fiero event if there is an on site dyno, that way there can be alot of witnesses to the actual numbers. I have nothing to hide from the results of the dyno run. I know I am going to hit my hp goal. Maybe if the non-believers and the believers were present during the run, there will be less room for bashing after the results are posted.
That's the spirit. Just get a bunch of witnesses and make it happen. Thumbs up for getting numbers, so people can get an idea of what they can get out of a similar build. As I said before, there's a billion ways to build a SBC, and a billion different results!

Next time i will try to keep the camera more stable.

Before people start asking what is on the outside of the windshield on the hood. I figured I better let you know that it is my new heat extractor hood. Here are several pics:
