i dont know what makes people do things like that. You know that wasn't cheap to make it that ugly.. At some point, wouldn't you look at it and think..."Something just ain't right here...." Hopefully you can give it the body its always wanted

the new black car has won an award for ugliest wing ever
that being said i hated the hood on the screamer, and when i saw you were doing a body swap to it, i was really hoping that the stock hood would go with the body swap, but it didnt.
but i guess each person has their own style, so it might be exactly what you were looking for, i mean heck, someone at one time must have thought that black car would look awsome with that crazy wing.

The IROC hood was removed from the Screamer and the stock hood was installed.
Everybody has been knocking the rear wing on the car. Granted it is going to be scrapped from the project, but it looks very similar to Archie's PPE wing, and I can't recall anyone knocking how that car turned out.

I like the look with the stock hood much better. The car looks very cool. I had a raised wing for a while and I think your setup looks better than mine did.
BTW, still looking for those dyno numbers.

prostreet505:... I sold the screamer to help finance Fieros Unlimited. Worst thing I could have ever done!! I missed the car so much I found the guy I sold it to, just to find out that he traded it for a Capri. So I tracked this guy down and found out that the car was sunk down 6" in mud and no longer ran. He told me that the exhaust strarted glowing and the timing chain had broke and he wanted nothing to do with the car anymore. So I bought the car back dirt cheap.
I towed the car home and gave it a look over and found out the timing chain was fine, but the distributor mechanical advance had broke from the shaft. I called the company where I bought the distributor and they sent me a new one since it was still under warranty. I installed the distributor and she fired right up and runs like new....
Ah Ha! So the engine didn't blow up as I had suggested earlier. Just broke down (2 owner's later) and all this in only 3 months.
One would get the impression that for some reason this is not a car worth holding on to.
You take us on a "sbc screamer budget build" and somehow during this thread we all get "sunk down 6" in mud"?

I quess you have never bought a replacement part for your car and had it go bad.... Not worth holding on to? so I quess you junk any car when the coil goes bad or the module craps out. Poor job at a slam. your inexperience shows.

I didn't sink anybody 6" in the mud. I sold the car for double what I had in it, and it helped finance the new shop. The car broke down because of a defective part, not because of anything I did. I'm sorry, but I am not a car god that can see a part going bad 3 months down the line.
If I let anybody down, I am sorry. I had to do what was in the best interest for Fieros Unlimited. It is not easy or cheap starting a new business. I hope everybody can understand this.

I followed this Thread for many pages but didn't read everything once it got bumped to page 3 and then back up. Did the car ever make it to the dyno and what did it put down? I have a 307 from my old truck that I thought about building up and putting on a auto trans.

I just spent nearly two hours reading through this post. It made my Sunday.
Craig, thanks a ton for all of the info. I'm assuming the basics of what you outline can be applied to any engine, correct? All the detailed pictures were awesome, because it really shows the specifics of what needs to be done. You answered a lot of my questions.
Like so many others, I can't wait for some numbers. But even without, this thread is a winner.

Great topic and good job on the build! I'm also a 305 fan. You have inspired me to do mine. I have started gathering parts for my 305 V8 conversion. I'm using old school parts because I want to have muscle car sound and performace. Thanks for such a nice job!

Very interested in this build up, any dyno numbers? Some recent engine shots would be great to see how the cosmetics of the build have held up, specifically the high heat ceramic paint on the headers.

I see the amount of work it took, wow. Here I am trying this for my first build. I am guessing that I will get the engine built and be in the same boat I was before, installing the bloody thing. Seems that there is much knowledge in rebuilds, pictures and such. My question is, why not write your own book on it? Fiero has enough of a following to sell to and to the others that have their own build ideas, try the same.
This 305 build gave me inspiration to try what I may or may not be able to accomplish but durn sure will give it the shot at the moon. Just hoping that this shot at the moon doesn't take a break from returning to it, lol. I am at the Cam Bearings and Cam install. Time to order them and see the next step through.

Now comes the fun part. Installing it into the car and taking it over to the dyno once the engine has been totaly broken in.
Anyone what to take a quess what the hp. is going to be?
I will update the parts and price list at the begining of this thread later this week.
Craig
My guess was right, 0whp, 0trq.
If it ever did make it to a dyno... it would have been not running right, going rich, not tuned, the dyno was broke, etc anyway.
edit for gloating purposes....
I dont think I have ever seen a 3800 thread end in as much fail as this one has... the one that almost came close to it was golden86's sick little L67 setup, and he just had alot of bad luck (IMO lack of good judgment) with motors.
