I just had a 3800SC series II engine swapped into my car along with a 4spd manual, and the stock 2.8 V6 came out with the 3spd auto.

I'm trying to figure out if the car gained or lost weight...

So what are the weight differences between the two engines and transmissions?

Thanks!

Here is a guide that may help you.
LS4 all aluminum V8 468 lbs
Chev LT1 620 lbs manual (due to flywheel) 562 lbs automatic
Chev LS1 smallblock 497lbs manual 458lbs automatic
3.4L DOHC 492.5 lbs
Cadillac 4.5/4.9L 371lbs (very light for a nearly 5 L V8)
Cadillac Northstar 468 lbs
Corvette L57 505 lbs
Std. SBC crate engine 575 lbs
3800SC series II 445 lbs.
2.8/3.4 L weighs about 348lbs

You add about 100 lbs with the 3800SC but lose about 50 with the swap to a manual so your net gain is about 50-60 lbs.

How about throwing some transmission weights in there...
I'm going from a stock 2.8 auto to a 3800sc series 2 with the 4t65e-hd transmission... I'm thinking it will be like a 200-250lbs gain...

I would say only about 175 lb gain...

the th125c weighs 101 on my scale
The 4t65ehd weighs 225

both without torque converter since it weighs about the same.

Most people never measure the actual blocks, but the 3.8 block is .250 SHORTER than the 2.8. The bottom end is a little beefy on the 3.8, but the cylinders are larger and more material is gone there compared to the 2.8. The supercharger on a 3800sc weighs right at 50lbs . If you did a 3.8NA on a th125c, you would be lighter than the 2.8 install overall.

I weighed Wills chop top car when it had the 3800sc and GETRAG manual installed on truck scales, and it came in at 2750.

Bob who has a LS1 installed on a 4T65eHD just weighed his car last night on racing 4 corner scales and it came in at 3077.

If I remember correctly, the 4-speed manual transmission weighs around 80-90 lb. I'm not sure about the difference in weight between the flexplate + torque converter and flywheel + clutch, though.

There is an error in the list. The DOHC weighs about 460 lbs dressed.
