Close. Actually I work in Happy Valley and just moved to Gresham from there recently. I have to drop my cradle again over the next couple days so I feel your pain. Not to worry, its only the 12th time or so in the last couple years.

EDIT: I've been owning a bunch of pages the last few days.

LOL.

I think mines been out 6 times this year fitting, refitting and fitting to get everything where I wanted it with the N*. I hate being Fieroless when commuting to Newberg twice a week. I have an 85GT that I'm thinking of doing another swap with. But, gotta get this one back on the road first.

SPEC 3 (6-puck kevlar) This is the new design. The old design only had 4 springs and rivets.

The decision is yours. Personally the SPEC 3 only lasted through one launch at 1/2 throttle for me (4.9) before it lost a spring. This was after a 1000 mile engine and clutch break in period. Good luck.

So how's the Clutchnet holding after a year? Those springs looks nicely enclosed.

So far so good. I've only put about 2500 miles on it at the moment (2.5 times what I got from the SPEC already ). I installed it with a new flywheel onto an Muncie 4 speed. Drove it til I found a getrag. Installed the getrag only to find out there is no 3rd or 4th gear. Currently dropping the cradle again to crack the case and fix it. Most likely a missing/sheared retaining pin for 3/4 shift fork.

So far the clutchnet clutch has been everything the SPEC was not. It holds the power easily warm or cold in any gear or RPM range. Has not shown any sign of problems so far. Good engagement but Its stiffer then the SPEC which I expected. My SPEC slipped above 4k rpm from day one, worse when warm. The pressure plate was really weak. The clutchnet I ordered was designed for a little more power then what my motor produces. I wanted to be ready for some future upgrades. Thats part of the stiffer pedal. It is by no means tough to drive. My fiance has no problems driving it.... but its rare she gets a chance. I have a hard time giving up the drivers seat. All in all I'm very happy with the new clutch and the guys down at clutchnet were great to work with.

I saw a couple people mention 'proper clutch break in" but they didn't specify what it is? Do you rev it up to 4-5 grand and dump it? JK

Normal conservative driving with no WOT runs for the first 500-1000 miles is considered normal break in for a clutch.

Maybe there's hope for SPEC disc owners...it was not my SPEC disc causing my clutch failure.

After taking the tranny off the N* today, I expected to find springs from my SPEC disc between the disc and the pressure plate and all around inside the bell-housing. Upon further inspection, I found no springs anywhere!

However, I did find evidence that a foreign object entered the bell housing, most likley through the old starter mounting area. The object obviously got caught by the spinning pressure plate and jammed between the bell housing support ribs and catapulted around the bell-housing doing damage and making plenty of aluminum rib fragments and scratches.

After reading about so many SPEC failures, what amazed me was finding the disc in good condition and all the springs were in place with little or no wearing at the seats. I was glad to see that, but surprised. I hope that those of us that are using the SPEC stage 3 will have some successes too. With so many SPEC failures out there, do I put the disc back in or use a Clutchnet disc in instead? That's the question.

Moral of this clutch story....make sure you put your tin cover plate on the transmission bell-housing so it keeps objects from entering your bell-housing. It will save you some grief.
