I am in need of help. I have a 87 GT with the 5 speed and the backup switch has failed. If I jump the connector, the backup lights work but they will NOT work when the connector is plugged in. I have searched high and low and have NO luck finding a replacement switch. I have ordered it from several sources and have had my ordered canceled. Does anybody have one or know where I can find one? Thank you VERY much! The part number is ACDelco: D2219A or Standard LS239.

-Brian

Have you checked the Fiero Store? I found the manufacturer of the original GM part and hooked them up with the Fiero Store, check with Justin if they have them in stock again...

Best regards,

Oliver

If I remember right, it is the same switch used on the Isuzu tranny. I think they are still available at most auto parts stores.

Perhaps I was not clear enough about my problem. Although several web sites show the part available; my order is canceled when I attempt to order the backup switch. One place was nice enough to call me and tell me it is no longer available. For example, Advanced Auto Parts lists the part but you cannot order it. Therefore, I am asking if anyone can physically locate a switch. Thank you for your assistance!

I have 1 for a 87 v6 5 speed if you would like it. 10 bucks plus shipping and its yours. I have no need for it. But the local advanced auto has them in stock. They had 4 of them when I got this one.

I have found one alternative to the original Getrag 5 speed back up light switch (made by Pollack switch co. 10075408). Buy part number NS38086 from Advance Auto Parts. The threads are the same but are about 1/16" longer than the stock switch so the tranny rod hits the switch too soon. I used a 3/8" flat washer as a spacer and spliced the old connector wires onto the new wires and heat-shrinked the soldering. Works great for $23.99!
