The best spark plugs to use would be the basic AC Delco spark plug. I have the MSD set up like you do minus the box and I use AC Delco Rapidfire spark plugs. They cost a lot more than the regular plugs but they are platinum and will last a lot longer. Iam not sure but I think its best to set the gap and the factory setting. I dont know what that is right now but Iam sure someone will chime in and tell you.

I don't have the MSD box, but I have the MSD coil, cap, rotor, and 8.8mm Accel wires in my 88 Mera. I'm running just regular NGK UR5 plugs, gapped at .045. No issues, runs great.

On my V8 Fiero, I have an MSD 6AL, 8.5mm superconductor wires, MSD coil, and MSD distributer. I have been running Bosch Platinum +4 plugs in it, and have been running great. You do not need to gap those plugs.

Before I had the V8, I had a 3.4 OHV. I also had a MSD 6AL, 8mm MSD Helicore wires, and MSD coil. I ran regular Bosch platinum plugs, and I had them gapped at .050 and that motor ran great!

I have heard of Bosch platinum plugs having problems, and being bad right out of the box. So if you dont trust that plug, I would go with NGK plugs.

the MSD coils puts out enough juice to gap the plugs to 0.060"
and this is NOT an outragous gap - the 4-cyl Fiero uses the SAME plugs gapped @ 0.060"
with the box - I'd expect you can open it even more - but - you'd better have some GOOD ignition cables.
but - with the MSD box - thats a given anyways. the box really works the cap/rotor & exposes/blows thru ANY weakness in the ignition cables.

edit: I will also add - dont use the box. just use the coil. your stuff will last longer. you get the benifits of strong ignition, and wont need to worry about the box overheating - the cables getting blasted thru - the cap getting roasted. The ONLY good thing about the box is the rev limiter.

I've used MSD -6A boxes in a number of applications. If you add the box your will need to add a matching set of wires and blaster coil. An MSD box will roast std OEM carbon core wires in short order. The MSD boxes work great but you will notice greatly accelerated plug wear. I use standard AC spark plugs because all of the applications were on boosted engines where platinum cannot be used.
