I want to replace my 16x7 42 offset wheels I currently have with a 17 and 18 staggered set.
Will 17x8 with 47 offset work in the front and 18x9 with 35 offset work in the rear, the Formula has std. suspension front and rear?

"Will 17x8 with 47 offset work in the front"

They will stick out quite a bit, from what I have read before you will need a 17x7 with a 48 offset.

The rears might work but you might need coil overs.
Look up post about Madcurl he has pretty wide rims in the back of his chops and I believe one of them is an 88.

I wrestled with this question on my 88 for a long time. The site below was the best I could find for comparing 88 original offset to a new set of wheels. Trying to find a wheel I liked that also was available in the correct offset was frustrating to say the least.
http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp

I finally gave up and bought the wheels I liked despite what all I read. I am still happy with them. There is no replacement for actually seeing what they look like on a car.

Here are 18x8 with +38 offset. Yes they stick out, but I think they looked much better than what I expected based on wheel calculators.

Are all four wheels 18x8 with +38 offset?

I'm running 17x7.5 with 45mm offset in the front and they are just perfect. An extra .5" of width with 2mm more offset will only make the wheel stick out 4mm more. I think that sizeing combo will work out perfectly.

Madcurl also has F'ing expensive wheels that were made to fit. HREs if I remember correctly. If you pay for 2 or 3 piece wheels you will get wheels that fit.

Some good info in this thread... the last page has the best chart:
