Anyone have any comments on these parts? I'm going to do a good tune-up this weekend and figured it would be smart to change these 3-4 year old parts out now instead of waiting for them to leave me roadside. I've been shopping at the zone forever but I've never installed any of their ignition stuff. Marc

"JUNK" As stated above --- Eckland or standard --- Rock Auto .com ---- Standard to your door at great pricing!!!!!!! Standard makes an premier product (Blue Streak) also sold at the Rock --- I've used (and sold) the Standard line for years -- quality is second to none. They do have a sub-line (G/P) sold by Advance --- quality is OK but not the same as standard/blue streak.

when we first started carrying standard i woulda agreed with you, lately we been getting alot of stuff in from them thats "re-boxed" stuff, when we asked them why, they said due to cost savings from the economy, and they would be back to making all their own product when things straighten out more... kinda scares me not knowing whats in the box right now tho :/
and they also have a subline "truetech", same quality as the standard parts from what ive seen, rare for a legit defect.

I got my coil from the Zone almost two years ago and have had no problems with it. I got a module from The Fiero Store and it lasted 6 months. I got the next one from the Zone (Duralast) a year ago and it’s doing fine, but that isn’t really fair because I installed an inline fan from Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies to cool it at the same time.
Great info. Thanks for the replies. I'll be staying away from their modules and will go with AC Delco from TFS. I haven't had a problem with my current Fiero "eating" them but I did have one that did before so I know what you're talking about! I've had a Autozone distributer installed for over 3 years now so I guess their pick-up coils are good but I don't think it's a Duralast anyway. Does AC Delco make ignition coils? Marc
What kills a module 90% of the time is not being installed right by the installer.
1 - where the old module was, did you sand it clean with 1000 grit sandpaper? it's gotta be really clean, Aluminum Oxide is a thermal insulator.
2 - Install it with High quality heat sink compound. not the crap at the automotive store or radio shack. buy Milspec MIL-C-47113 Heat sink compound or better.
I use GC Heat sink type 44 compound Part Number 10-8118, 8 bucks for a lifetime supply if you own 5 fieros. You can also use a product called Arctic silver from a Computer parts place.
do not use a heat sink glue or epoxy, you'll ruin your distributor by permanently attaching the module.
If you install your module to a very clean surface that was lightly sanded clean and you applied a thin coating of the compound to the module and screwed it down properly It will last. If you dont do this, even the most expensive module will fail in short order.
I got an autozone reman distributor about 5 years ago. Had their own brand module and I haven't had a problem. Mine is installed properly and with heat sink grease.
