Ok i have a 2.5 85 fiero 2m4 and the car takes forever to start (excessive cranking) after testing the circuit with a voltmeter i concluded that the ecm signal output was bad so i ordered a ecm from fiero store and it says the prom is not included...... now does that mean i have to transfer the prom from my old prom to the new one and if so does anyone know where theres a good write on how to do this thx this is my daily driver and i currently have no wheels so i greatly appreciate any help

Yes you just have to unplug the prom from the old ecm and plug it into the replacement ecm. Just take the 2 screws out of the cover and you will see a large prom in a plastic carrier. You just carefully work each end up a little at a time until it comes free.
You will see a notch in one end of the plastic. Just be sure you carefully push the chip into the new ecm in the same position and orientation. Push it in somewhat firmly but don't flex the PC board a lot. Rocking it a little from end to end also helps.
The carriers can vary a little but it's easy to do.

Here is a picture of a v6 ecm but the chip looks just the same.
