How are high speed corners with these tires on 7" stock rims.

How's your life insurance policy?

Honestly, you're putting on a tire that's too wide for the rim width. 225 is about the max you should put on a 7" wheel from what I could gather. Slapping on an additional 40mm of tire width will be detrimental to your car's handling.

Have you thoguht of going to Tirerack.com? You can look up your tire size there and get all the specs...like how wide the rim SHOULD be and how wide you can get away with. It even explains what happens when you don't match the tire to rim (like it is supposed to be). Great site for info.

I really like the 265 50 15 as they are 10.5" wide and almost a perfect match in circumference as the originals and will not affect my speedometer very much.
I could also keep my original gold lace rims.
If i did go to a 15 x 8 rim what offset would i need for my 88 GT.
Thanks.

Just spoke with tire rack... The recommend 215/50-15 on the front and 225/50-15 for the rear on stock 15" wheels like the once on the GTs. No bigger...

Your tires are going to look like doughnuts with even 225... what did you think was going to happen with a 10 inch wide tire on a 7 inch rim.

Through searching i have found people are using 265 50 15 on 7" rims.
I am asking for thier opinion on high speed cornering.

205 60 15 on 6" rims and 215 60 15 on 7" rims are stock on 88 GT Fastbacks.

Michfiero: Those are great photos, thanks for the link.

I think i will go with 60's and not 50's as shown.
245 looks wide enough.

The unbelievable thing is... putting 245's on 6" rims are no different than putting 265's on 7" rims. Lol.

Then again......the 50's would give me a more accurate speedometer.
