Going with a 3.4p/r swap. Have a 4speed trans and I would like to upgrade the clutch. I looked on the Fiero Store website and found there HD clutch kit and am considering that. I have noticed through other research that the prices through Fiero Store are bumped up considerably more than if you just order from the manufacturer. My question is what is a good clutch upgrade? I don't need kevlar or anything extreme, just something with somemore bite. Whats been used, what brands are prefered/more trusted. Once again I am at the mercy of the infinite wisdom of the Fiero gurus. Thanx for ne help.

Hey guy, welcome to the insanity. I cannot at this time give you a recommendation as to what brand or type of clutch to use. I have my '86 SE w 2.8 that has a clutch problem. Still have to pull it apart. What I can tell you is that as far as prices at The Fiero store are concerned, I read somewhere on this forum that being a member of PFF you will receive a 10 % discount. Hopefully, another member will read this and be able to give some more feedback . I am not going with any extreme clutch on mine because once I get this car running, it's going up for sale along with my '87 GT. Wish I could help you a bit more, but I wanted to tell you about the discount. Good luck. Ernie

Greetings from Plymouth

Do a little research in this forum...there was just a long posting on clutches a little while ago. May not directly answer your question but will certainly give you some ideas. As for my set up...I have a 4.9 conversion with a Spec Stage 3 clutch that I will swap out as soon as possible (don't like it). Based on my research so far, I will be going with the HD clutch from the Fiero store (the wide one).

Good Luck!

The Fiero store I heard was changing the 10% off thing .... I went with http://clutchmasters.com/ I have the fx300 in mine.. It is a kevlar/kevlar but I also went with the 9 11/16 pressure plate.. Seems to work good so far. Only 782 miles on it. It doesn't like stop and go traffic but it could be the poly mounts that I have to so I feel everything.

Here's some pics though --- I have a 3.4L too - I grips nicely

Clutch net.
Do a search on Captain Fiero, he lives in Vancouver Canada.

I would recomend the LUK Part No:04-116
It is 9 11/16" vs 9 1/8"
