Hi All,

As I move forward with my interior redesign I'm looking around for different options and ideas. One of them being the sun visors - mine are looking pretty dated and have seen better days. I know that GM, with its infinite wisdom, had a standard parts bin they would pull from. I'm assuming that "most" of the sun visors were all the same. While having the original visors reupholstered would be an option - it is a bit pricey. I was at the junk yard a few weeks back when I saw a Pontiac Grand Am with near identical visors for 10 bucks - for the pair. Better yet, they were vinyl, had mirrors, lights, etc... even the mounts "appeared" to be the same. I didn't have time to pull the visor to see if it would mount. But I'm sure someone on the Forum has done this swap.

My question: Will newer style GM visors fit and are the mounts (bolt pattern, etc) the same?

Thanks

If you take a measurement, or better still, take one off and visit a yard, you'll be in for an interesting search. Alot don't fit but, alot do.

In my case I found a Plymouth Acclaim with grey interior. The visors fit well. There are some others too. The reason is that the mounting parts are made by outside parts manufacturers and are used on different makes. You just have to go searching a yard and get just a little luck

Arn's advice is good. I took my old visors to a "classic car" salvage yard and discovered that the mounting angles for the '53 Chevy pickup I was restoring are weird and canted. I found some that would fit the pickup but most were too long except for more modern smaller cars and pickups. I suggest you check the mounting angles closely because when installed, it is funny to watch the visor twist into the roof. Good luck.

Sofa King,

I do not have a picture, however I procured my new sun visors from a '94 ('92?) ) Oldsombile. I forgot the actual model. But, they bolted right in, they are the same interior color and each have mirrors I also really like the fact that they are a bit larger, for better sun protection and look stock!

Cordially,
Kevin

Hi buddy, just thought I would let you know, I recently bought some sun visors for my '86 SE on e bay. The seller stated these would fit a Fiero or Pontiac Sunbird. Sure enough, they are the same as my '92 Sunbird conv. Hope this helps you. Ernie

I used the primary visors from a 2000 STS. There was some tweaking involved, but I'm definitely happy with the results.

Cut out a piece of cardboard and use the stock visor to match the holes ,,I have a punch ..but you can use a drill .
mark proper location place cardboard on wood and drill holes,, this gives you a jig/template to use as a guide if 2 holes match up ?? you can drill a 3rd or elongate,, this widens your options,,
You could try SUVs also
YES,, do eyeball for an off fit ,,make sure the angle is close

Hey Gang,

Thanks for all the great feedback! I'm going to try to hit the local junk yards within the next few weeks - Alabama is loaded with them! Now that I have a reference point it should make the search a little easier.

Thanks again
