I ran a new exhaust off the back of my Quad 4 into a resonator muffler out to the tips, the whole exhaust is about 5' long. I love the increase in the high RPM range but it is still a bit noisy.

Are there tips that have anything in them to help quiet things down just a little bit more?

Resonator tips. Pace Setter, Hedman or Hooker http://www.summitracing.com...ty/Dual/?keyword=tip

I used Hooker resonator tips PN 21430HKR on my Indy exhaust.
Still loud when you "put your foot in it", but quiet when cruising, even on the highway.

I'll get you a picture of what's going back on the quad 4 I'm working on. I just got it running yesterday. It's a new longblock from an 89 Grand Am.

put on a cat and you'll have no exhaust music, easy solution ( imo ). I had cats installed on my 6.6 trans am when the exhaust system was redone ( magnaflow ) and it quieted her down ALOT...i'll post a sound clip.

Well, the CATs undoubtably helped, but, that is not a subtle exhaust. In fact it is pretty loud. The cc inserts will quiet that down quite a bit.

This is what I'm getting ready to install on the Quad 4 I'm fixing for a customer.

I don't know who makes it, it came with the car.

RobsFiero's,

Regarding your pictures, that is exactly what I am doing. I took a better look at the tips that are on my car and they are/were resonator tips, everything is rusted in there and everything is loose.I reached in with some pliers and the inserts came out in pieces.

I would add a cat but there is simply not any room to add it.

I am thinking I will look for a new tip and see if that helps.

Monza also makes a good resonator tip, both in single and dual/split design.
