Disconnect the cable at the throttle body on the engine (it's obvious how once you have a look at it), and determine first whether it's the cable that's really sticking, or the throttle body. Post your findings and someone will chime in on where to go from there.

Blade might have a lot of buildup on it. Pull the air hose off and open the TB by hand. If you see any build up or ridge there, clean it out.

Duke or V6 ? (Seemingly irrelevant but it may prove helpful information)

It could be a burr on the throttle cable or some gunk in the TB... Check TB first - report findings here. We can move forward from there.

Process of elimination. If you open the TB by hand (for a V6, its really obvious - I'm not so sure about the Duke TB)... if it moves freely but the accelerator pedal doesn't really do anything, its likely your cable. Also, check the pedal assembly for anything "weird." Could just be a lubrication issue - depending on heat, fluid viscosity changes... Stuff to think about.

thanks, the cable is good, the rod the butterfly is attached to has a little varnish from the car nor running as often as it should.i took the tube off and put some cleaner while runing the engine[v-6] and moved the rod back and forth and it is alot better. i gave it a squirt of wd-40 , dam what a differance.i think it needs to be taken off and soaked in some carb cleaner.i am going to the autoparts store for a new ground cable, motor to frame. dam i love this place.i purchaced a car because of this site and you can still buy parts. i have a friend with a garage and he will let me use his lift.thanks for the help, gents.
