so here's my temp gauge

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7AVeyVDCI4

it hasn't worked ... in about 4 months .. and today it started working again, and it was doing this! my guess is a bad connection at the connector, or somewhere in the harness, but i don't remember what color the wires are that feeds it...or where the sender is. it's an 85 GT with a 2.8. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Coolant temp sensor is on the RH top side of the engine

here are some diagrams, hope they help.

variable speed fan ( has temp switch)

Single Speed

and the Multiport Fuel Injection Wiring Circuit (Engine Data Sensors, Torque Converter Clutch & Cold Start)

Hope one of em helps, but thats the closest I could find with wire colors and all.

Location of sensor

http://www.fierostore.com/T....aspx?Part=v6sensors

Replacement connector, assuming yours is heat cracked and falling off. You can get just the plastic of the connector seperately however it sounds like your electrical connnections are not working correctly also.

thanks for the replies. I just went out to look at the connector based off of the fierostore pics, and well, there's no electrical connector at all, it's just the wires pushed into the sensor. and sure enough, the one for the gauge was barely on there, i pushed it all the way back on, and now it's working properly. thanks guys i'll order the plastic part when i get a chance
