I use 215/55 front and 225/55 rear. .5" diameter over stock 215/60-15 GT wheels (1.5" over 215/60-14). For a stock engine speedo will read low. Half of the diameter increase will fill the wheel gap. The other half will raise the ride height. So for a 1.5" diameter increase you will get 3/4" less wheel well gap but also 3/4" higher ride height. I lowered the car 1.5" on top of this. Less gap and only 3/4" lower height. No rubbing issues, less gap, and no worries on speed bumps.

my 225/50s are GREAT performance wise, and I can always find a great tire on the cheap for them as well. Tire rack has some KDW's on sale for $80 each right now.

I think 205/55 front and 225/50 rear would be good if you want a staggered tire size. If you don't, then 215/50 would work as a replacement for 14" wheels, or 215/55 as a replacement for 15" wheels.

Ok so I am looking at some Falken ZE502's. 205/55/16 fronts, 225/50/16 rears. The problem is the fronts are V rated and the rears would be H rated. Is this a problem?

Do you have coilovers installed on the rear? What offset are running? I was thinking of running this size on my car, but I thought it might hit the spring perch.
Now that is an uncommon tire size. I would probably rather have a 225 in a design/compound I like rather than spend the extra for a special size like that. Would be fun if I found them on sale one of these days.

There are a few mfg's selling them and I always looks for some sales... never paid more than $75 each for them with a z rating or higher.

I currently run them on all 4 corners on an 88 with 35mm offsets front/rear and have lots of room to the stock spring perch. Before I got into 88's, I ran these same wheels with a slightly used set of 245/50/16 on an 86 and had about 1/8" clearance to the stock spring perch, so these being about 1/2" shorter should clear.
I've got a 1988 Fiero GT. I'm running BBS RG-F 16x7 wheels with a +48mm offset on all 4 wheels. I'm running 225/50-16s up front, and 245/50-16s on the rear. I have no problems with rubbing at all. The only 'problem' with this setup is that the 245s on the rear are the maximum size for a 7" rim. As such the rear tires are little "pinched" inward at the rim, and appear to bulge outward. But I like the look.
Hope this helps.
