That sounds like it would be nice, I want to do something very close with House of Kolor black and a little red metal flake to make it look like a cherry coke in the sun.
This is House of Kolors Pearl over white. I chose the highest gloss they had, and I get a lot of compliments on it, it came out very nice. I wouldn't have had much wet sanding, but I let my breather hole get clogged on the last pass and that makes for a bit o' peel! Live and learn...

If you are actually using the entire line of House of Kolor paint and clear, the finish is like glass. I do a lot of custom motorcycle painting and their line is great. What is really nice is that you can spray coats of the paint which goes on smooth as glass, let it get tacky, and spray the clearcoat right over the fresh paint. The entire "system" of their paints is top notch.

I like their colors. I did my custom van in the 80s with it in different color graphics. I also used their clear. Didnt like it (the clear) at all. It started splitting open like an eggshell all over, and when you sanded it, it gummed up sandpaper like it never really dried. Ive had no other problems like that with any other brand of clear. I ended up stripping it with stripper after just doing the hood used a roll of #80 discs.

So if you did this in the 80's perhaps they've changed their formula a bit. I had no such problems 4 years ago when I used them.
