I have a lot of valve train noise (88 Iron Duke of course it does)...I think I have a stuck lifter. I am going to pull the valve cover and double check everything but I did a search and found a previous post where Rislone was suggested to unstick things. Does it work? Is an oil change needed shortly after adding it? I know when you add Sea Foam to the crankcase you need to change the oil after a few runs. Just looking for past experience. Thanks guys.

Rislone is a run with additaive, and yes it cleans rather well.
I would advise using it with a new oil change, just substitute it for a quart of oil.

Just run some seafoam or berryman's B12 in the oil before you change it.
I think you can drive up to 100 miles with seafoam and B12 around 50 before changing.
I do this periodically on all my vehicles, and even with 200k+ miles and track use the oil still runs golden/brown and not black.

You can also use Marvel Mystery Oil. Substitute it for a quart of oil, and it works great in my past experience. You can also put a little in the gas and it will help clean the fuel system. I have never had any problems using it.

The solution for a collapsed lifter is replacement. No additive will cure the problem. You can try additives and snake oils but I doubt if it will do much good unless you get very lucky..

Granted if your lifters are totally stuck, you need to repair/replace however, I have personally seen Rislone do some amazing things. I had an old Duster that had lifter tick so bad you could hear it echo throughout the apartment complex, 2500 miles later, Rislone quieted it down to nearly nothing. Rislone's been around for decades, it's good stuff.
