My visors have seen their last days and I don't want to replace them with stock ones so I'm going on a boneyard run this week. I've read all the threads naming the Dodge Daytona/LeBaron hardtop/Sundance/Shadow/Acclaim/Spirit/92-4 Olds 98 & 2000 Caddy STS as possible donors but there are almost NO pics of any of them installed. I'm particularly interested in lighted mirror ones for both left & right. Also, if there was some "tweakin" involved, I'd like to know about that as well.

If you've done this mod, PLEASE post a pic or two so I can see what they look like installed.

Thanks in advance!!

I just took mine off. I still have the mounting triangle in place. I had to cut the visor arm but I like the way it looks.

2000 Caddy STS visor installed pics. Just remove the bosses on the mount hinges and use longer screws (they will go into the original holes at a slight angle).

Ryan...I like! Your mod is the reason I decided to do something different. I saw a set of them in gray on Ebay and I've got gray Caddy Catera seats installed so the color would work in my car.

I do want to get a look at the Dodge-based visors before I nail this down, though.

I've got a question...why didn't you use the little clips that hold the visor in place? Would they not fit on the Fiero? Is there no metal at that point to mount them to? (OK....that's 3 questions! ) I know that some visors have the "ground" wire attached to the clip itself so the lighted mirror won't work without it. Obviously, that's not the case with the STS but just curious.

Oh....and "schmoken"....welcome to the forum!

Yes, but with me being Caddy-dumb, I had to look up STS.... 2005 was the first year.
So now know "2000 STS" is a Seville STS.

Doni,

I would have installed the clips but the visor set I bought on eBay was too good of a deal to pass up ($20 & free shipping) even though they didn't come with the clips. I was initially worried that not having them would cause the caddy visors to rotate under hard acceleration but the hinge is stiff enough that they stay put under all conditons without the clips in place. If you have the chance to get a set in good shape for the right price, I'm sure you will be happy with them. At the very least, you can bank on the fact that the refinement of design and quality of the materials that Cadillac used in 98-04 has got to be a big step up from what Chrysler used in their more economical cars nearly 2 decades ago.

Okay...after rummaging through 2 boneyards looking for late model Sevilles or Eldorados (same visors, BTW) with gray or black interiors with no success, I settled for dark gray visors from a '99 Olds Cutlass Supreme. They aren't lighted but I wasn't looking forward to having to dig into the interior to wire them up anyway. They do have mirrors on both visors, though. That should please my lady....I rarely if ever check my makeup when driving! As an afterthought, WHAT IS IT WITH CHRYSLER AND BLUE INTERIORS? JEEZ!!! Of the dozens of Dodge/Chryslers I looked at, about 75% of them had the same color interiors....blue, with most of the rest in tan. Damn popular color option in the 90's, I guess.

Anyway, the same visor installation procedure stands as with the STS ones. You have to chop off some of the bosses to even out the mounting surface and one of the screws requires a new hole (I never noticed before that GM uses self-tapping metal screws to install these things....so no drill bit required) but it took all of 15 minutes to install them. My headliner needs recovering at some point so I will likely go with lighted visors (and the LeBaron lighted rearview mirror....nice) when I have a reason to mess with the headliner. But until then, these'll do!

Thanks, Ryan, for the inspiration. Oh...I'm about 10 miles west of 131 near Three Rivers. Since you're in GR, email me at "doni@donihagan.com" with your contact info & I'll do likewise.

BTW, I understand now why visors from a LeBaron droptop won't work in Fieros. They are mounted via a long rod attached to the "A" piller and there's no reason to put yourself through the work required just to get them mounted. It's a pity because most of the ones I saw were done in vinyl, not cloth, and a pair of gray "leatherette" visors would've really looked nice with my interior. I tried pulling out the mount and swapping the Fiero one for it but the rod on the Fiero mount doesn't fit the hole in the LeBaron's visor.

While I'm a big fan of his stuff, Mr. Mike wants $150 a pair for them. Not today, I'm afraid. I just spent $6.50 for the ones I've got.
