I'm getting a code 32 with a day old egr valve. I have all stainless vacuum lines with good boots with no appearent leaks.
Next is the selenoid, right....? How does one save money. Can you test this thing?

thanks for the great link... I still have questions though. The side of the 2 tubes, I can blow air through them and it comes out of the other on the same side. This is an open loop which I think is normal- the part is out of the car when testing. I can't blow air through the other side, which goes to the firewall tube. When testing with a voltmeter, it shows nothing. No continuity, no movement. This is on both sides of the terminal on the selenoid. the link showed movement when using a vacuum machine. So I tried that too but with my mouth as the vacuum. Still nothing.... Is the selenoid bad?

Well you need to check the continuity with an OHM meter. Your multi meter can be set to ohms. One way to know for sure that your set correctly and with the leads in the right holes is to touch the leads together. If you see a reaction when you touch them together, then your meter is at least set to ohms.

The sensor side should show a closure when a vacuum is applied to the sensor.

The solenoid side should always show some resistance between the pins. If the solenoid side shows no continuity, then the solenoid is bad. You are checking from pin to pin as per the picture in the link right? There are no pin to ground connections.

Yes... I have taken my meter and set it to ohms, touched the 2 pins on the left as the picture shows and the meter shows nothing. I then touched the other pins like shown in the picture and again the meter shows no continuity. When I blow/mimic a vacuum in all ports I still show no movements on the meter. From both sides of the pins

This is what I have now with solenoid not connected --- vacuum / air flow when the EGR is activated (open)

This is what the meter shows all the time..... and the 2 pins tested

In this picture.. Looks like no vacuum is applied and he has 120.2... I show nothing.

----
Is this a good indication of a bad solenoid?
