I'm a fat guy, I'm not going to lie. How well do us fat people fit in the fieros. That question is what held me back from getting one a few months ago. So I'm going to ask and free my mind.
The guy I purchased my car off of was 5'11 easy 275 he drove it for years. He wore the lower section of the drivers seat out but hell the car is a 86 so 25 years of someone getting in and out it will wear out. Oh yea and the top pin and bushing were shot from him using it to help him up. Me personally I found its easier to grab hold the roof n pull upward.

1. Wide - Fiero could be tight for someone built pretty big sideways. Tall poses no problem unless you are considering a career in pro basketball - if you're not over 6' 2" you probably won't even put the driver's seat all the way back.
2. Getting in and out: It's a loooong way down and a loooooong way back up. This has more to do with what kind of shape your legs are in than weight. You can always think of it as saving you money on a gym membership!
Heck, I'm 6"2 and 260lbs, and I jump in and out of this car just fine.
Unless you're a wide dude, you'll be fine. They gave this car a tilt steering wheel for a reason. And I guess if you don't fit, then look into a 1990s Camaro ...

I don't see a Fiero as being the ideal car for someone very fat or someone very tall. I'm 5'11" and 210 lb and find it easy getting in. If you are 6' 5" or over you are not drivng a Fiero or if you are wider than 21" (seat width) it will be a chore. Really if you are that fat and want to drive a Fiero, consider a low fat diet and slim down. Your health will be better too.

Well I've had a corvette and 300zx's. I've fit fine in them. I'm just not sure how small a fiero is compared to them? I'm not a monster just overweight.
Thanks everyone for the answers.

I'm 72 years old with some leg and back disabilities and I am a bit overweight but I have no problem getting in and out of my Fiero. If you park close to someone or near a curb, you won't be able to fully open the door so getting in/out may present a problem. Had that problem this morning at Safeway and all I had was a gallon of milk. Otherwise, the car is great for me.
My ex boss was 7' 2" and weighed nearly 300 pounds and sold cars before he came to my former employer. He sold many, many Fieros by showing that a big man can get into one. He has a picture on his wall with him sitting in a notchie and with his head poking out the sunroof.

I mean i can't compare to a big guy since im only 5'11 196lbs but ive had friends who have sat in this fiero and have fit fine in the excess of 6 '6 and over 200lbs. I even had two girls sit in one seat before so there should be plenty of room to fit in those fieros especially since the motor is behind you. Alot more leg room for the big guy. The only problem to present itself would be the getting in and out. Even for me it is has grown somewhat tiresm at times.

I'm 6'1 250, I don't see how anyone much taller can DRIVE a Fiero COMFORTABLY. I had a friend who's 6ft 375 give or take, he took it around the block but said no way in hell could he own one. For me, the Fiero has the minimal amount of legroom. That being said, part of the reason I bought a Fiero is because I couldn't see out of a solstice. Top of windshield was at eye level for me.

Worst comes to worst, fab a granny stair lift sort of thing where the seat comes out of the car and then slides in with hydraulics once you sit down. No really, the only thing i'd suggest is sitting into the car and getting out, at least 10 times. If it's too much, than it's too much. I know some people who hate how low it is and how others love it and have no problem (like my self).

Well... I'm nearly 6' tall, but all of my height is in my upper body (32" inseam, if that). only around 200lbs but thin for it. I fit fine - except I have to duck my head getting in and out sometimes.
I've had passengers up to 260lbs and 6'4" fit without much issue; aside from the cursing and grunts

The Fiero definitely has more room than both of those... both in footwell space, and passenger width.
I'm 6ft 215 lbs and I have a ton of room left. Lots of leg room. Like mentioned above most don't even have the seat all the way back. I have a 34 inseam so I keep mine all the way back but I could probably still be comfortable with it forward a little bit if I had too. Haven't really had any issues getting in or out either. I just kind of roll to my side a little and then step out. Steering wheel gives me a little boost up!

Well, as an expert in fat guys I would like to say that I fit pretty good. How big a boy are ya?

the guy who owned my Fiero b4 my stepdad was just over 300lbs and fit snuggly. My car has the non tilt steering wheel tho so i am not sure if that makes a difference.
we wound up having to replace alot of the suspension and shocks were shot beyond any comprehension when we got it.
In my experience, width has been more of an issue. One of my buddies is 6' 6' and weighs 360 lbs. He fits fine except that he had issues using the clutch since his thighs are so thick. And at 5'9" and 210lbs, I should have no issues, but I also have a 44" chest so moving around once I'm in the car can be problematic at times. I vote for someone here who lives close to drive over and let the man try it out. We could always use another Fiero-ist.

I weigh 230 and this is the only problem I've had. Not the fit, but the twisting motion on my left knee as I'm getting out in close quarters. That's when I'm cussing myself to drop some weight.

So far I've only met one guy that couldn't get into... er out of a fieros. He's 6'4" 375 lbs, not really fat just really big. Somehow he managed to shoehorn himself in. Then his legs were locked under the dash and he couldn't get out. I laughed for 20 minutes before I decided to help him. Had to take the gauge cluster off. Good times... for me.

Sounds like a lot of us full figured guys fit. I'm 6-2 and 270 and fit just fine. I'm also one of those that tried to fit in the Soltice and couldn't see out. My 240Z is also a good fit.

First I have to say it has been so long since I have posted here that I forgot my old account info, and probably don't even have the e-mail account that I signed up with.
I read through the whole thread. I was wondering what the competition was going to be. I have been driving Fieros for over 15 years. I am 6 foot 8 and currently 330 lbs, I know I have weighed more in the past. It is not perfect, but I have found it to be as roomy as most other vehicles I wish I had more leg room, but I am in a Fiero at least. My first Fiero was a 1984 2m4 I called Little red, I got the car while working as a pizza delivery guy. I tell you getting out of a Fiero with 4 Jumbo pizzas in one hand really worked the legs, they hurt for a while but I got used to it. My opinion is don’t let your size stop you. Yeah work on the size if you can that is a no brainer but not an easy task for everyone.
This is not the perfect intro thread but here I am, and I am not a big poster so I might as well say my piece here and now. I just bought a 3800 sc motor out of a 98 Pontiac gtp, I am going to be putting it in my 1988 Formula w/5speed. I am back on here because I have a lot of learning to do. I have a friend that is a mechanic for a living and a MacGyver type for life so I don’t think it will be too bad overall. One previous project he did was putting a Chevy 350 in a Ford sport trac truck. Well, back to quiet mode for me, Please feel free to offer guidance I know I need to do a lot of reading on here.

If you drove those you should be fine. Main problem I see is because car is very low your effort will be higher coming out and up. More stress on your knees. At least it is for me. Have had mine for 22+ years from when I was 200lbs to over 300 now. So I am well used to it. Just test it.

Welcome to the forum, Sir! I am more than a foot shorter and less than half your weight so I will call you Sir. Kidding aside, if you can enter and exit a Fiero, the OP shouldn't have any problems. My only issues are a left leg brace and spinal stenosis but the Fiero is one of the most comfortable cars I have driven.
Hope you get the 3800 in your car soon and post some pictures. I have that setup but I found a great guy who did it for me--it turned out to be a turnkey operation.
Again, welcome and please do post. We always like hearing from fellow Fiero guys.
