Forum members have on many occasions blown me away with creativity, craftsmanship, and yes, just downright genius. But man, you have just gone to the top of the leaderboard. The whole project is just astounding, and to think it wasn't accomplished by a huge corporation, but a guy in his garage with an idea and the balls to see it through. I'm giving you a standing ovation.

I did some more test driving yesterday. This time I bumped up the battery count, running as high as 370 volts. As it turns out, spinning all four wheels on a Fiero is pretty easy when the car hasn't been aligned and the tires suck. Sounds cool too!

I just got a chance to read all the updates. Man, it is looking good Bryce!
I'm pretty excited to get another look at it all tomorrow. You work so fast it seems like a different car everytime I get out there. At this point I can only imagine what its like to see a Fiero spinning all 4 wheels. Way to cool! Later Bryce

I have seen some sick Fieros on here, none of which I would want (take offence guys if you want), but your car I want. Any chance of you driving through Vegas on your way there/back? I would love to see your car.
Bryce.... That is a really sweet job you did on that car. I know you are making the Fiero community proud. I certainly brag about your car. Again, another Fiero guy with innovative ideas .... and not afraid to make it happen!

Man that sucks! You did such a good job on your car you scared off all your competition. Congrats on the "super cool" trophy though. Can't believe there wasn't other prizes to be won. How did it do in the drags?
I'm also willing to donate to the east coast challange fund. Maybe we can start a thread here and see if others are willing to help this little fiero get the representation it deserves. When does that competition take place? You should enter and win that one too so you have both coasts.

....and on a $2,009 budget.... Excellent work man! Competition or not, a trophy is a trophy you can proudly display!

Thanks for the compliments guys. Yes, it was really, really disappointing that I was the only one who showed.
The Florida competition is the second weekend of October, so only about six weeks away. I've got a few donations to help ship the car out east to try competing against some other cars, but just enough to make a small dent (about 10% so far). It would be great if more people chipped in, but of course I have no expectations, if it happens it happens.
The car did ok in the drags. My very first pass down the 1/8 mile strip was 9.3 with a 1.9 60 foot time. All season tires, bone stock 2.8 in back, horrible dampers all around, loose nut behind the wheel, etc. I was pleased, it was just a tick faster than I expected.

Just curious, but why did you mount those batteries so high up? Why not down against the floor pan? You've accomplished quite a feat, but I'm sure having all that weight low would help you in the AutoX.

I had intended to have two mounting locations, one on the passenger's floor specifically for autocross, and one that still allowed a passenger. I ran out of time for both and this way won. I've also now realized that those batteries are a real PITA to be moving around, so I doubt I'll be building the second mounting location. It's just not realistic if I want to take people for a ride, and I'd much rather be able to take passengers for a ride than be half a second faster through the cones.

Congrats on the achievement of completing what others thought too difficult! You beat them with the mere thought of modifying a Fiero into something modern and they were defeated without having to enter the arena!

At one time were you in the Detroit area? Or I am confusing you with some else. Any way congratulations.
I used to go to school in Flint and worked in Detroit for a very short while. I still have lots of friends in Detroit and get out that way occassionally.

I've been getting a LOT of donations and I've almost got enough money to cover getting the Fiero the "real" $2009 challenge in Florida. I've only had two Fiero owners chip in, all the rest has come from GRM readers. Last night I posted another video from the drag strip on youtube. Since I haven't tried yet, I'll see if I can embed it here:
I've still got some parts I'd like to sell off the car to help my $2009 budget. Take a look and see if there's something you could use. I'm including the price of shipping so I'm not making much money off this stuff, but every little bit helps:
Alright! Congrats. Now we get to see this little car demolish the competition.... unless they all get scared and back out of this event also.
Give me a call when you have a chance. I'd like to come over a help some more on the car and discuss some of those parts your looking to...he he... part with. Later.

So the Fiero is sitting at the transporter in Orlando. Does anybody live near Orlando that can help me get it out of storage? My flight lands just a couple hours after their office closes. I'll make it worth your while!
