Hello All,
So I have figured out my car problems and found it was injector number 5 was bad. I recently routed my exhaust out the back and the car seems to be running like a champ. I had to adjust my shift cables because third gear just wasn't there. Found that my shifter was cracked slightly. i repaired it with a simple weld. Everything was good to go. Got in the car was driving great and just as i was up words of about 60mph my rear tie rod snapped. i lost control of my car and slide into a ditch. I was wondering if anyone had any spare parts that they would sell me for the right price. I'm needing a passenger door, rear bumper, ground effect , and panel behind the door. Also, i was wondering if there's any requirements to up grade the tie rod while doing a 3800 sc swap. thanx

p.s.
i am located in north west Indiana,
If you are located in the around the Chicagoland area and have parts let me know.

Thats terrible. Cant help you with the body parts but Rodney Dickman makes an excellent heavy duty rear tie rod upgrade for Fieros, I have them on my car and doubt they will ever fail.

Thank you for the information Joe. it is greatly appreciated. It's a little bit scary knowing that its only a series 1 sc and its already snapping tie rods. I'm thankful just to be here. But as of now have a little bit of an issue to deal with.

I doubt the engine had much to do with the tie rod failure, the load on the tie rod comes from normal driving and turning. There are plenty of people running around with much beefier engines and stock rear tie rods, even worn ones that arent failing. I am also curious to know where your tie rod failed, do you have any pics we love to see things like that and it might help people in the future from this happening.

So i took a look at the Fiero for a little bit today and the tie rod is in tack but it seems that the joint had a lot of metal missing around it and that the tie rod snapped near the joint. I am fully aware of much beefier cars on stock parts of the Fiero but after my near death experience id say upgrade! LOL.. I have found Rodney Dickman's site and soon to be ordering all tie rods inner and outer and ball joints this weekend. As of now i am on the search for body parts and i think i have found some but haven't contacted yet because im busy at work.

here are the photos i snapped really quick.

Thought the rear tie rods are suppose to point down with the threads down when bolting them into the knuckle mine are that way maybe that might be the reason it snapped on u

Wow thats some damage. I have a rear quarter panel I can donate, but its silver and shipping would be killer. You can probably find someone local ish who has swapped scoops and still has their stock quarters. I thought you meant the rear inner tie rod for some reason, but its just the tie rod end. May be a good time to upgrade the inner and outer if you have the funds.

oh defiantly have the funds and yeah it did a good amount of damage, i have narrowed it down to Passenger door, Passenger rear quarter panel and rear bumper and suspension. i have found the inner and outer tie rods and ball joint on Rodney Dickman's web site and i like the way things look. The only thing i really havent found for the fiero suspension is the upgrade strut bars or sway bars. any ideas where i could find these? Does any one have a spare set of rims they want to sell let me know as well!
