Is it true the '04 and '05 Monte Carlo 3800 Supercharged motors are Series II ?

Pretty sure, but not 100%. My brother was just talking about this the other day and insisted that the Monte SS's were series II.

Either 2 or 3, but their both good engines. I would prefer a 3 myself, takes a little more effort, but would be worth it IMO.

Yes, the only 2004-2005 GM cars to get the 3800 Series 3 SC (L32) engines were the Grand Prix GTP.

The 2004 Regal GS, 2004-05 Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, and Buick Park Avenues still got the 3800 Series 2 SC (L67) engines.

2005 model year was the last year for the 3800 Series 2 N/A (L36) and SC (L67) engines.

2007 was the last year the 3800 Series 3 SC (L32) engine was used (which was available in a Grand Prix only). The non-supercharged 3800 Series 3 n/a (L26) engine continued to be used in various vehicles for a couple more years.
