Added it in on the battery side of the hinge bracket. I wanted to be sure I would not hit something by going into the fire wall, plus this would keep it accessable even with the battery in the car. It was a paint to get the drill in there though... LOL!
Routing the ends that would connect to fusible links...
Now adding in all the wires to the block

Now to route the C500 to its new home behind the battery. I wanted everybody all together, so I would know where to look! Plus the battery would offer a bit more weather protection
I ran the in and out through the opening in the backet. This would help support the wiring and keep it away from the pulleys. I also split a dead vacuum lineto line the metal on the bracket to keep it from chaffing the wires
Attached it to this little bracket on the firewall to keep everything solid
I ran my sense wire parallel to the alternator output wire. I ran both on a shorter route to the passenger side and back to the junction block instead of around the motor and across the exhaust to the firewall and over. When carrying the power to keep the car running with top volts, you want the shortest route possible and the prefect size wire to reduce degradation on the trip. The output became a 8 gauge with 12 gauge fusible link.
The sense line was made of 12 gauge and ran by itself now. I had to solder in the new wire as the old was completely compromised.
I replaced my broken alternator clip buy sliping out the old ends and placing them in the new connector.
Last but not lease by any means... I had to run and protect the 2 remaining line going to the starter. The battery cable was new, but the neutral safety line was charred, but my reroute gave me enough spare line to trim out the bad
So I got the thermotech wire insulation and slipped it over the neutral safety line and the power wire to the starter. The starter already had a blanket.
Great job & looks good! Although I am not a big fan of the red loom; it draws my attention to an otherwise insignificant engine-bay item. But non the less, its light-years ahead of what you had in there
The red was free. I would have had to buy all new black loom. Pretty sure it gets pretty expensive when you have to buy all the lengths separate. Colored loom is just one of those things... lol I know
I really hope that red loom is high temp loom and not car stereo loom that melts at 140 degrees or you might be looking at a melted plastic mess everywhere. I discovered a couple of years ago that not all loom is designed to actually be used in a car.
Just something you might want to keep an eye on daily once you start driving it regularly.

Free is always good When I did my 3800 harness, I reused the black factory loom, then covered with another layer of black electrical tape(something you could do to hide the red). I also used HVAC foil tape in areas where the loom got close to heat/exhaust to reflect some of the heat away from the loom/wires... Just something to think about; I would hate to see your hard work melt away...
BTW, if you do decide to cover the loom w/ black electrical tape, DO NOT get the cheap stuff. I use the cheap stuff to wrap the wires, then used the 3M tape for the outer layer to cover the loom. The cheap stuff doesn't seem to be as sticky and eventually starts to unravel...

good idea. I only use 3m for car work. Learned that lesson early... Lol... I will wait on any tape for a while though. I like the idea that I can pull the loom to insert the wires if need be. Once I'm 100% confident I don't need to fiddle with wires...
Ok just to report back... I hate to leave threads open ended... So the car had sat a bit throught he rear suspension poly conversion and conversion to coil-overs... I will have to check the exact dates through pics, but...
I'm guessing it sat for about 2 weeks with the battery connected... normally the battery would be weak... my little guy fired right up! Whew whoo... I hope this means I found and fixed the drain I had with all the above mess. Also the car has been starting good and strong, no intermitant no start... only time will tell, but I'm confident (knock on wood) that I got the issues fixed!
Thank you everyone who helped with suggestions along the way! And esp the ORGE!
just wanted to report back jn... So its been a bit now since I had the little fellow back running. I wanted to say that thus far I have had o more starting issues or dead battery issues. So it looks like my main issue revolved around those bad connections. Car had a real test yesterday. I was taking pics and had to stop and start over and over and over again.... Not a single time did the car not fire right up! With 100 pics I probably repositioned a go 25x. In the past I would have had at least 2-3 no starts in that. Yeah... Finally!
rear coil over & poly conversion... Started at completion again 9/29 and 9/30
front lowering and poly conversion... Started at completion 10/21
drove to show.... 10/22
errand.... 10/28
photoshoot.... 10/30
so those are all the start up dates with down time b/w. In the past I would have had a dead battery and multiple no starts, so I think I I'm finally doing good
Lol Patrick... normally after 3 weeks with the battery hooked up the battery would be dead. Did you have your battery hooked up for those 6 years... lol...
I was impressed the car sat with the battery hooked up and it was still a strong 13 at fire up. I never had that. Overnight I would usually have 11 at fire up on the gauge.
Grr I hate trying to reply on this phone

So probably the last time I will do this...update this.... I took the indy out for a grocery run after sitting from my last update... of which I only cranked it to see if it would. Well two nights ago I took him out for the grocery run and he fired up perfect and with the voltage gauge showing 13.5 ish at crank up.
