Hey everybody, I'm doing a 3800SC swap to my 1987 getrag 5 speed Fiero GT. I need to know which side of the throw out bearing faces the flywheel side? One side of the throw out bearing has small tabs and the other side has big tabs. I thought the side with small tabs face the flywheel side but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Glad to help. Next time, you should snap some pictures while you're doing it and post a "how-to" thread. Spread the wealth of knowledge!

Id suggest you change your fork to the one piece cast/forged one. Those parts and pieces ones came apart on mine. They did sell a whole kit with new fork and pivot.

Thanks for the tip Roger. I actually did change to the one-piece cast fork. That was the "before" picture, but it was the only one I had showing the T/O bearing orientation.

I just checked out a few places for you like The Fiero Store, and Rodney Dickman's site but I see they don't sell them. I bought mine up here in Canada at an on-line store called www.autopartsway.ca but I see they're only offering the mulit-piece welded ones now (first design). If yours is really bad and you can't find a cast one, then the $60 price tag on the one from autopartsway is a pretty good deal considering it's new and will likely last the life of the car.

TFS has the 2nd design available / listed on their site. But be prepared to pay approx 375$ for the lastest design. Ouch...

Its been several years ago, but I bought the cast fork and its pivot shaft from the dealer for $145. The shafts are different and make sure you use a premium waterproof grease as there is no way to ever relube it once installed.
