Ok, got everything running well I think. I found that my ICM wiring harness got the loom melted because it rested up against the exhaust manifold on the firewall side. After I fixed that and re-bled my brakes, then my clutch again, I took it out on a short drive to figure out what the metal-on-metal sound was. I found it, check out the picture below. It appears as if my brake upgrade doesn't have enough clearance with the lower control arm as it has ground down the tip of the CA. I'm trying to figure out what to do with it now...
What kind of rotors do you have, and size.

Holy crap, I've been reading this thread and have been really impressed at the work you've done, and then I come to find out that you live 20 minutes from me? That's awesome. Congratulations on getting married! Where did you get married at? I've been to a couple of weddings in Stafford, just have to remember what company hosted it. My fiero's up on jack stands at the moment and I'm about to perform round 1 of a college kids budget restoration! When I have it running solid, we'll have to meet up for some coffee and Fiero chat. Once again, good work.
We got married in Haymarket, VA at St. Paul's Episcopal church. If you need help with your restoration, just let me know. Once I get it back home I've got some things that need to be done, but this spring would be a good time to meet up. Thanks for the kind words - shoot me a PM if you wanna meet.

I can't say exactly what I have - I threw the box away with the specs on those rotors. I remember having to order two sets of rotors because I ignorantly ordered rear rotors instead of fronts. I believe these rotors fit the specs for front 1994 Corvette rotors, no heavy duty suspension. I can get some measurements if you'd like, just let me know.

It's been a while since I've updated, but I have had some time recently to continue to make progress. I finally bought an aluminum sheet to fill in the trunk I cut out for the exhaust. I bought some seam sealer from eastwood to fill in between the original OEM sealer and the new aluminum sheet I riveted in. Here are some pictures:

I think you mean the "return system." Thanks for the info, I wouldn't want to mislead anyone with what I'm doing. My goal is to try and make the engine bay as uncluttered as reasonably possible. This is just one of several performance tradeoffs I'll be making so that I can have something nice to look at when complete. I have no intention on racing this car once I'm finished - so anyone who is, listen to darkhorizon. =] Thanks again for the info - I'll see if I can find those injector wires.
There are two ways of looking at the returnless vs the return type fuel rail. On one hand we can say that continuing to cycle the fuel in the rail around the engine would allow cooler fuel to reach the injectors or we can theorize that this constant return of fuel to the tank would serve to heat the fuel in the tank. I maintain that the small capacity of the returnless fuel rail is quickly used up when racing thereby making cooler temperature fuel in the tank benefiicial. My series III installs the regulator near the fuel filter ( Ryans idea) so that fuel temperature in the tank remains undisturbed. I cannot claim that this method is preferable and which method will alow for cooler fuel is certainly a highly debatable point but in theory it appears to be sound.

Ok, looks like I broke my windshield trying to get the wiper arms off. I can replace the windshield, but since I was going to have to get the car painted, I thought it might be a good time to take all the body panels off and work on the frame while I also get the new quarter panel scoops and front fenders fit and prepared for paint. The downside is that I won't be able to make it to Carlisle and possibly not be able to drive it for about 4 months. What do you think?

Looks like I made my decision. I thought I'd post some pictures of my wider (1") front fenders sitting in the stock location. Again, if anyone has thoughts on my A/C problem, post them on that thread (bumped tonight).

Unfortunately, I've decided to not go to Carlisle. Me breaking my windshield did it for me. It's actually kinda nice because I'm thinking I can get a guy out here to take the windshield out - then I'll be able to take the roof off, meaning all the panels can be removed for painting. I may still go to Carlisle without the fiero, but you have fun and take lots of picts.

Well, I got pretty disappointed tonight as the new wide front fenders don't fit like I'd expect. I know that some work would be required but if you look at the pictures below you'll see that they both stick out about an inch beyond where the door panels currently sit. I'm thinking I might sell them, I paid $400 for them both + shipping, but would take offers...
Just curious, can't those fenders be trimmed for fit toward the door edge? Most kit bodies, ground effects, etc. that I've installed on cars over the years all were oversized and needed "resizing" for fit.

You're probably right, there is enough material to modify the panels for fit, but I'm no body expert and I don't think I want to take the time required to make these fit properly. Of course, they are bowed outward slightly making it look a bit worse than it really is. I'm in the process of deciding what to do because I figure those panels need to be lined up with the existing door panels and of course the bumper, but I also want to be able to take all the panels off for painting with a rather modest budget. If I had more money right now I would probably find someone local to help me get it fit and prepped before I take the panels for paint. However, I don't think I need the wider fenders and keeping the stock look may be what I decide to do for now. I also could get all the other panels painted and then take these front panels to someone to have them mounted and painted properly. I'm just not quite sure yet, but I do know I am going to take off the rest of the panels in the next week or so in order to get the unibody painted and protected as much as possible.
Yeah, I get where you're coming from with that. Decisions, decisions. I've always done all my own paint and body work so this stuff is easier for me. I only have to kick myself in the butt to get things done.

Want to make a trip down to Stafford VA? It actually looks like I will probably get a quote from a local place here for the paint, but I'm thinking I'll wait on the front fenders until I absolutely have to. I may actually try to get the rest of the panels painted and then I might bring in those two to see what the body shop will quote me on installation and painting...who knows, I don't have to decide this very second so I'll probably flip flop a bunch before then.

I think I am interested in selling the widened fenders from above - if you're interested, I'm looking for around $300 (new they're $385). I'm trying to decide currently if I'm going to Carlisle, but if someone who is going there wants to buy them I can bring them up for the day.
Well, the exhaust is now getting TIG welded and while I wait for that to get back I decided to finish up a lot of loose ends. First, the original passenger's side coolant hose I bought didn't fit, so I went to Advance Auto today and got one that does. Below you can see the new hose compared to the old one. The part # of the new one is (E)71317.
I am in the process of the same swap and need to know what the part number for the driver's side coolant hose is. Or if you could tell me the car that each cam off of that would be great. I looked around on here on PFF and there is one thread that has the numbers listed for all different parts stores, but when I called around the numbers didn't match up to anything at the stores. Thanks for any help.
Great build! I hope my car comes out half as well as yours.

Dan, I want to say I used part number E71075 (Advance Auto Parts). I believe it's one of the coolant hoses off of a 4 cyl. Fiero. Regardless, take some measurements or bend a coat hanger in a generic shape of what you need and bring it to the parts store with you to compare.

Bump to say I dropped off all of my smaller panels yesterday to a guy for paint. It's going to look great (stock med. metallic red with a small surprise).
Edit: I'll be dropping off the large stuff later this week - panels off is the way to go.

Ok, so while the panels are aout for painting I decided to get on with some work. The A/C system needs to be flushed and retrofitted to use 134a. I picked up a flush kit to use with my air compressor (jc whitney).
I took out the accumulator and bought a new one to use with the 134a. To pressure flush be prepared to catch the flushing liquid as even though I prepared for it I still got the flush all over me. If you can't get a bucket on one end easily, you can use a 3/4" coolant hose on the large tubes and the 3/8" hose on the smaller ones.
The orifice tube is located between the two lower A/C lines.
I got the retrofit kit with the ester oil - for compatibility reasons.
Today I received my new order from the Fiero Store, lots of fun, but I'm going to have to get the molding trim painted to match. Time to make a run to the painter.

are those before or after pics of the retro? looks like the O-rings are R-134a blue, maybe someone before you already retrofitted?

Alright, I painted more of the "under the hood" area and took apart both headlights and stripped, painted, and clearcoated them. I also cleared the cowel and painted the radiator cowel. Picts below:
My painter started painting the panels last weekend but ran into a problem with the hood and decklid so it's going to take a few more weeks before he's done. In the meantime, anyone know if I have to grind down the antenna mount since I'm shaving it off? I thought about just cutting the line and splicing it so I can easily just mount it under the fender. Ideas welcome.

Well, I figured out what I'm going to do with the antenna. I went to Home Depot and bought some small 1/2" clips and then drilled and tapped a 8mmx1.25 hole in the body. This worked great and I still managed to get it grounded by pinching a copper wire in between them. The best part of today's update is the paint! I'm still waiting on the hood, decklid, and various black parts but most everything else is done.
I decided to paint the black molding glossy - so far it looks great. I have one surprise with the body that I borrowed from 2bluesc. You'll see that in a few weeks.

Just a quick update. I got most of the panels back on today after getting them back from the painters. I will hopefully get the rest on tomorrow and have some more picts. I still have to paint the interior and get the windshield installed.
Thanks for the complements! Here are a few more - I finally got the wheels back on.
Keep in mind that the painter will be buffing it all out a week from now. Also, it looks like the headlight covers have a different shade than the rest - they were painted seperately. I am going to ask him if that's normal and if he can do anything to fix it.

Got some more stuff done. Decided to keep Mrs. Lori's windows for now. I still haven't gotten a chance to take it back to the painter - that will happen next weekend for sure. He will also blend/respray the hood since I've got a small nick along one of the edges and the headlight covers don't match.
holy $hit how did you manage to get them from her, or are those the "blem" ones?
Luck I guess. The interesting part is that those are the second pair I got from her. I ordered early and paid so she sent my set but they had a paint problem so she swapped out a good set with the bad ones. I guess it's true what they say: "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while."
Bump to keep out of archives. Also going to have new pictures since I finally got the new drip rails installed and new OEM windows installed. I scrached the passenger door getting the drip rails in, so I've got to wait for the door to come back from paint before I can post anything new. They're also repainting the supercharger to match the body color of the car.
