Ya'll should move the weight list to the first post on the page, if you ask me...make it nice and handy. I have a bunch more weights to fill in your list too. Let's start from the top down:
Over-flow bottle: 1lbs Washer reservior: 2lbs Tires: ~17lbs ea. (entirely dependant on size, brand, etc. My GT wheels with tires on them weigh in at about 34lbs ea, so the math says...) Sunroof: 14.3lbs Headliner: 6lbs Decklid: 29lbs Wing: 10.6lbs Battery: 35lbs Cradle: 60lbs (+/- 2lbs, depending on year and engine) Left axle: 15.9lbs (4-speed manual, complete) Right axle: 19.1lbs (ditto) Rear control arms: 6.8lbs ea (coplete with ball joints and bushings. Pre-88) Rear struts: 8.1lbs ea (complete with hardware) Rear springs: 9lbs ea Rear tie-rods: 2.65lbs ea (complete) Rear knuckles: 11lbs ea. Rear Hubs: 4.85lbs ea. (Knuckle/hubs listed as spindles) Rear calipers: 7.8lbs ea (correction to your estimation) Rear tires: ~17lbs.
Not on your list: HVAC Case: 10lbs HVAC ducting: 5lbs A/C compressor: 13lbs (already included in engine weight, but not listed)
... I'm getting a headache comparing your list to my own...too bad I can't just cut and paste my excel file or HTML...my list turns ugly without formatting! I've got approximations for a few things that I don't know the weight of, but I'm within 1 pound of the weight of an '86 GT. Maybe I'll work on formatting it for plain text...

Took some effort, but there it is. I probably missed a few minor things. Let me know if I missed anything major. If anyone has weighed anything with a ? next to it, let me know that too...they're estimated to keep the final weight correct.

Aluminum guard beams sounds like a good idea at first, but the more I think about it... How about fabricated titanium guard beams? I have been planning to something with the guard beams for a while this winter. I have all the resources to burn and fab titanium beams, if all goes well would anyone be interested in a set?
Just put a "No Side Impact Crashes Allowed" sticker on each door. Seems to work for anti gun people.

I just weighed most of the wiring harness on my bathroom scale. Left out a few things like the front and rear lighting harness parts. This was out of an 84 manual converted to race car, so some things are missing as well. Weighed in at 18 pounds, with connectors and fuse box. So I'd say your estimate of 20 for the whole thing is decent.

Well good grief, thanks for taking the time to do that Definite + for you I'll add it tot he front post, as that makes the most sense as you said.
Thanks for that. I didn't want to make a whole new thread just to get it to the top, where it'd be most useful. Now let's go forth and start stripping down our cars! Who needs a windshield anyway?
