Thought that I would update my thread. Car is not running right for reasons I do not know. I am at the point of just selling the car and cut my losses. I have a ton of money in this car and still can not drive it and it's been two years. I just do not know were to start or end. I love the car but at some point you have to admit defeat and move on. I am just in over my head. I should have just keeped the stock 3800 sc engine and been happy. Thanks

Please give more details. It could be the tune.
Who did harness and PCM re-program?
Could be a bad fuse. Need more details to help.

I did the wiring harness, I have done at least 10 swaps with no major wiring issues, but at this point l will try anything.
The guy that did my tune is from the 3800pro forum and his name is dyno Brian. He does all the tuning for Intense racing.

It never has idled right, I know with this cam idle should lope a little, but it does not, it idles at around 1100, 1200 rpms.

A couple days ago I decided to re gap the spark plugs and install new plug wires. Now the idle is 1500 rpm and the headers are now glowing cherry red.but They may have been glowing like that for a while, becouse it was dark out when I finnaly got it fired back up.
I gap the plugs to .55 they were at .40

I know that glowing headers are a sign of running lean. timing, fuel pump, vaccum leak..

1.vaccum leak- could be I have checked over and over again
2. timing is set at 0 I have check it and double checked it
3. fuel pump. I have the ep381 and a summit racing external pump( I installed it yesterday) Did not seem to help the idle at all.

Apparently it is lean as hell. I wonder if the second O2 as been disabled.
I assume you only have 1 O2 sensor. Has tuner tuned for 3800 in Fiero?
They are slightly different tunes but have dramatic effect on Fiero vs GP.

no codes except for the seconday coolant fan. and all the codes for the A/C system( he must not have programed them out)

using a MAF sensor and throttle body from a corvette.

Do you have extra PCM? If not get one from yard.
I can throw a tune on and we can see if that helps.
However, NIC and Thrasher cams may need more custom
Tuning.

I would like to see how your PCM was programmed.
if it was flashed using DHP. I can't read HP tuners.
I assumed you wired car for 98-02 GP?

Funny, I never seen codes for those before.

Did you get custom tune?

Wrong MAF will definitely cause idle issues.

Not yet, send me the PCM and you can try my tune. A regular 3800/MAF/TB

may be easier to tune but with the correct MAF table a LT1/LS1 isn't hard.

What size injectors?

I have been working on it a little bit today and found that when I was installing the number 5 plug I must have bumped the throttle cable and the cable was up out of the bracket and that's what caused the 1500 rpm idle, but after fixing that it still idles at 1100 to 1050rpms.

1050 is probably where it is actually set at. I have the ST3 cam and my idle is set at 950. The car won't stay running if the idle is set to low on big cam car.
