Hey all,

So i moved out from ontario to sask, been busy working and completly forgot about updating.

Once i arrived here Darth and I came to a realization that the 60lbs injectors were going to be too much of a hastle to controle with the 7730 ecu so I changed over to the obd2 from the venture that I got the engine from.

I also picked up everything i needed to complete the car. (Fender, turn signals, window motors, sail window etc.)
I am just finishing the installation of these parts as we speak.

I will be sanding the car for paint soon although in the meanwhile I need to do a case learn with the new ecu to continue the tuning process. The GmTunners suite program has the case learn option although I cant seem to sucessfully complete it so the local gm dealership said they would do it for 50$.

On a side note the car runs much better with the "first attempt" on the obd2 ecu which is great news. I should be up in running in no time.... as long as I can get a vehicle transfer from ontario or find a fiero here that I can swap vin's with .

Good luck with the project. I'm a turbo junkie too. For your a/w heat exchanger you can add an overflow tank that also acts as a fill point. I made one out of 4" PCV pipe with fittings that fits where the spare tire would rest. The flow is pump -- intercooler -- heat exchanger -- overflow tank -- back to pump. The pump is the lowest part of the system. The overflow the highest. The heat exchanger will always be full with this setup.

Interesting to see that statement as I just sent a message a few days ago to another member doing a 3500 swap suggesting that very same concern given my own struggles with 60 lb/hr injectors with even more displacement than what you are working with. I finally got closedloop idle to work without the hunting issue but it's still not consistently stable. When the A/C is turned on sometimes it will hunt for a few seconds and recover and others it will hunt until it stalls and on a couple of occasions it has gone into a perilous dieseling/knocking type chaos from a very low idle swing and anti stall recovery attempt that once threw the belt off when I couldn't turn the motor off in time enough.

It sounded good from a reserve standpoint in the beginning but as far as tuning is concerned only as much injector as you need is the key. There are just too many parameters necessary to properly tune injectors that large and the tables in the GM code do not specifically match the calibration values on the spec sheet for the 60s so you have to extrapolate, over and undershooting exact because of the increment limitations in the code. I tried to get as close to the spec sheet settings as I could even dropping the fuel pressure to the specified pressure for the injectors.

You're in a good position if Darth is going to be there for a hands on approach.

thanks for the responces guys,

I wish darth would be here for hands on. Unfortunatly its all over emails and mailing ecu's. I'm very tempted to just haul the car down to him... we'll see how frustrated i get.

In the mean while it seems like i cant get the drivers side power window to work. I'll repost it in tech dis i suppose.

The painting process has begun. After relentless attempts to do the case learn with hptunners suite, I have decided to bring the car to the dealership so they can use their gm tech2 scan tool to do the process. I also wanted to bring the car home at the same time although painting was the last thing that I needed the heated garage for(it is at work).

Is there a case learn on the 3400? I know there is on the 3800 but it's ignition and sensors are quite a bit different.

Does anyone know if I can get the oil pressure off of one of the wires on the connector that plugs into the "oil pressure/battery" gauges on gt fieros. I made a holder for the three auto meter gauges to go where those gauges were (oil pressure, air/fuel and boost). I have the sending unit that comes with the gauge although I figured it would be less wires to run and less stuff to install.

EDIT: With some research i found my answer and came up with a new one. If anyone ever needs it though;

-Oil pressure pin #17 (Tan)
-Inst light pin #15 (Gray)
-Ground pin #11 (Black)
-Alt lamp pin #6 (Brown)
-12v pin #9 (Pink and Black)
New question, Does anyone have a solution on how to essentially trick the alternator with a resistor and also something about tricking the fuel sending unit with something to do with the oil pressure gauge. I didnt really want to hide the old gauges somewhere in the dash but if its the only garenteed answer then I guess I'll have no choice.

You can put an idiot light right at the alternator if that's what you are looking for.
