Simple version of the question...what is the difference in wiring between delay wipers and non-delay wipers on an 84? In later years, the difference is just the switch, but I swear I remember reading there is more to it for 84. Anyone have wiring diagrams for it?

The situation...
The convertible is blowing fuses on the windshield wipers. I have tracked the problem down to a short in a wire in the steering column. This is my opportunity to fix multiple issues at once by swapping the column from a parts car. It will give me an auto column like I should have, it will fix my horn issue, and it will fix the wiper issue. The problem is, the parts car has delay wipers (which I wouldn't mind adding to the convertible). I can see the wiper motor wiring is the same, but haven't had a chance to climb under the column yet (gotta fog it for spiders first...lotta black widows around here).

Update...

Here is a portion of the only wiring diagram I can find for it...

The blue is the non-delay wiper switch, the red is the delay wiper switch, the purple is the module in question. Where is this located? Logic would dictate that it is under the dash somewhere near the base of the steering column, but GM never was known for using logic in their designs. Am I correct in assuming this swap will be as simple as taking that module along with the steering column?

The 84 used a delay module that plugged into the wiring harness under the dash between the steering column wiring and the under dash wiring harness.

The relay also had a ground wire.

You will still need the delay wiper switch inside the steering column.

This thread had a diagram of the module. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...090907-2-092582.html

This thread has a couple pics of the actual module, https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...090219-2-080354.html

Thank you...those answered all my questions, but I want to make sure I am clear on one part. For 84, the wiper motor does not need to be changed...but later years do, correct?

Correct, the 84 wiper upgrade to delay does not require changing out the wiper motor.
