I'm in the middle of rebuilding the front end and have the car on jack stands with the front tub out. I took out the four bolts holding the rack down to the cross-member, and loosened the pinch bolt til it seems its going to come out. The rack will not come off the column shaft. Am I missing something?

The shaft is notched. The bolt must be fully removed for the assembly to come apart.
