Which Fiero style do you prefer: 1. the original coupe notch back, (84-86) 2. the aero notch back (Indy, 85GT, 86 & 87 SE) 3. the second generation notch back (87-88, Formula) or 4. the fast back (86-88 GT)?
Why?
I prefer the aero notch back.
To me the body looks cleaner with a body line that is more distinct in definition, and looks like it will just eat you for lunch.
However, I will add one exception, an areo notch back without a spolier looks naked. The spoiler most definately helps finish out the rear end of the aero notch back Fiero.

Aero notchback, of course. Proof of that is sitting in front of the house right now. I think the aero notchback is more muscular than the fastback, but the fastback is a little more sleek.

I have to say.. I prefer the fastback. then I see a beautiful aero notchback like DXR_DADs or Oreif's... and I realize I like them too.
never was too fond of the original coupe style.. (which is why I'd convert it to the aero style, and add a wing..) but they're still cool just because they're fieros.
I like the second style of notchback. They look like little Corvettes. The first version doesn't look as good since it has those black things on the bumpers. I seen those painted silver on a red car and it didn't look bad though. I don't like the wedge shape of the aero spoiler and the fastback looks okay but it makes the rear quarters look flat. I hear the fastback looks cool with the formula nose though. Plus the notchbacks look meaner from behind, and if you build the car right, thats what most people will see.

84 Indy...I own two 84 indys...the first one I bought is in good shape however the second one I bought is almost MINT...I would consider selling the first one to the right person who wants to finish restoring it...I will only let this car go to someone who truly wants an Indy and wants to finish what I have started before I bought the mint condition one...Email me at NDFieroTN@aol.com if you are serious...

I like the fastback I like the rear view of the fast back, how the tail-lights are designed and everything. I dont however like how the quarterglass gets damaged easily

87-88 notchback all the way! Oh, am I biased? ] Actually, I like the fastbacks the best, but found such a great deal on my Formula I couldn't pass it up. Besides I do like the later notchbacks a lot anyway. In fact I like them all...

Am I the only one who likes the early coupe style(black bumper pads). The nose is nice and pointy, looks really cool in red. Plus, the rear deck(in '84)had the center engine vent. The next Fiero I would like to buy, would be an '84. The car that started it all, etc. Plus, I think they look cool. But, I like my Formula too .

I like em all, provided the owner shows some pride. For Gods sake, clean the engine and vacuum out the trunk! Nothing worse then a greasy engine and a trunk full of nasty crud. I would like to get a sleeper, though, an 85 2M6 with no options. Put little 13" steel wheels and a 2M4 decal. Hehehehe.

I own that sleeper! My car looked just like a 1984 SE (before mods),with three differences. It has a 2M6 sticker, a V6 and dual exhaust. I know everyone has their prefrences but I must say that a get a little bummed out by everyone turning their noses up at the orignal body style. How can a fiero fan not like the car that started it all? I like ALL fieros but in my opinion a red bumper pad style fiero with a rear spoiler and ram air side scoops is about as close to a european exotic as a fiero can come. I don't think I'm being biased as this is what I had planned BEFORE I bought my car. To each his own I guess.

my '87GT of course (i'd change it to 'TG' if I could and then i'd have a personalized Fiero - kinda like I did with my '65 GTO - I changed the letters in the grill to 'TGO'..........it works for me!

I gotta side with DXR_DAD on this one. 86 SE, in black of course. Always been my favorite style, especially now that I finally have one sitting in my garage.
I like the 88 Coupes/Formula with fastbacks. The factory didn't make 'em in that flavor so I had to build one myself. And I also like the factory GT fastbacks. Oh ya... I also like notchback Fieros with the groundfx and gotta have the spoiler on them Notchbacks. The Notchback coupes also look good. I am pretty picky about the Fieros I like.

notch backs have a look pretty much all their own. fast backs look like other hatch backs of the era. aero notches are my favorite.

All Fieros look good! But Im partial to the 87-88 non aeros...FORMULA baby, yeah!! They're randy baby, a bit of ok, yeah!!! ;-) (I just finished watching Austin Powers for the umpteenth million times..sorry)
I must be an oddball. I seem to be one of the only Fiero fans that prefers the 2nd generation coupe/notchback. In addition, I hate wings/spoilers on any car so I wasn't too upset when some vandals/thieves tore off my spoiler, except for the holes they left.
Even though I had an 87 aero notchback (minus its spoiler) and they are my 2nd favorite, I always thought the front end looked too long for the back end.
I never really took to the fastbacks but I don't like fastbacks on any car except 65-66 Mustangs (I had one). I think the fastback on the Fiero makes the car look stubby and a little chunky and the big rear lights accentuate that.
I agree with the guy who liked the early style hood with the center grill and no bulge, but it's hard to find one without that luggage rack trim. I also prefer the round side molding over the sculptured style.
Therefore, to come up with my perfect Fiero, I will have to mix and match. 2nd gen coupe (which I have) with no spoiler, round molding, and the Formula rear valance for its dual exhaust outlets. An early hood w/o trim and a T-top. Swap in a Cadillac 4.9 V8 with a 5sp behind it and I'm set.
I'm with you, fldevel. They're all cool. I love the 84 because the first Fiero I ever saw was a red 84 (so was the first Fiero I ever owned). I love the 2nd-gen notch because I have one now. I love the aero notch because they look tough. I love the fastback because they look slick.
Which style is my favorite changes about every three months or so. Right now I'm big on the original 84-86 Coupes.
