Hey, I'm in need of some new tires for the GT soon, and I'm thinking of what I should get. I like the ones I have now, which are Good Year Eagle GT +4s, but I want to get some other ideas. I saw an 88 GT at a Pontiac dealership getting some engine work done. Looked pretty nice. Anyway, it had some foreign white letters or something like that. Looked nice as well. They looked nice with the all-black look, with the wheels and all. My GT is red with gray wheels, but I want to see what BF Goodrich Radial TAs would look like on it. Thanks a lot.

I had BF Goodrich Radial TA tires on my '67 Chevelle SS396 back in 1978. My concern would be whether or not these tires have advanced over the years, or whether they are of the same design as they were more than 20 years ago.
I think they're better now. My brother has some on his 92 Grand Prix, and they seem to work good. They last a long time, and they look good too. They have a fairly high speed rating at about 118 MPH, and I just wanted to see them on a Fiero. By the way, I want to see the white-letter ones, if there's more than that. Thanks
I've got them on my '86 SE now. It had the original Goodyear GTs (still have some life in them) and good dry traction but I found them too squirrely. The Radial T/As are much better. I don't push that car to the limit so can't speak to handling under extreme conditions other than they're a big improvement over the GTs on wet pavement.
If I could have found them locally I probably would have gone with the Comp T/A (they were out of stock at the mail order tire places too) but so far so good.
I had a set on my '86 Trans Am. Those things make it nearly impossible to leave a black mark anywhere. (Is that a good thing? I think not!) They stick pretty decently.

I had BFG T/A's originally on my car. I think in the gallery is a pic of my car with them on. (Raised white letters) Right not I have BFG Euro T/A's. They don't have RWL but they look great and stick like glue! Goodyear Eagle GT's are good on a hot day but their harder compund isn't to good in rain or the cold. I hated my Eable GT's that were on my first 86 SE and I went to BFG T/A's a week later.

I just put a new set on this GT! I put them on every Fiero I think I am going to keep :~) 225/60/15 rear 215/60/15 front I think the white letters are the way to go it gives a smaller wheel well diameter "illusion" but I'm Old lol FD

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. I like the white letters, but I think that my black letters make my wheels look really nice. Escecially when I'm getting them painted. Anyone else have other white letter ideas? Thanks.
PS: Dave, that's a nice car you've got there.

I think the raised white letter look is cool. I've liked that look since I was an immature kid. Now I'm just immature. I can't seem to get myself to put raised white letters on my car though. I think R W letters belong on muscle cars becuase that's how they can see the wheels spinning when you burn them off. I geuss that's the way I was brought up. If you like it, go for it.

I know that none of us would ever do this , but white lettering starts to look awful after it's been scrubbed hard against the curb a few times. However, I've always liked the look of spinning white lettering on tires as the car goes down the road.

I used to use Radial T/As on my Sonoma and my Firebird. They weren't hi-speed rated, but they seemed to last forever. Handled decently and rode well. Not a lot of road noise. They even make a Radial T/A 50. It's blackwall, but it's much cheaper than the 245-50-16 Gatorbacks that came on the 'Bird. The only reason that I put Goodyears on my Formula, was that I was pissed at the folks at National Assault 'n' Battery. Will probably go with BFG the next time.

I just got a set of Michelin Pilots for my 88. 205/60/r15 in front and 215/60/r15 in back. They are the best tires I have ever had. They ride real smooth and have great grip. A little expensive though. I guess because there in the Ultra High Performance All-Season category.
