I am taking out the V-6 in my GT and replacing it with a 4 cylinder, (a QUAD 4) but it is a 4 cylinder.
As far as the comment your car is not worth fixing, "something" is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. Look at what the LT-1 chop top is worth according to a dealership, or blue book, about 1/4th of what it was sold for. Don't do it for the money, do it for the love of the car.

I've never understood some people's need to trash what other people have. What's the point in saying something bad about anyone? If you don't have something nice or constructive to say than button it up.

I welcome discussion from anyone about any topic. I even enjoy input from non-Fiero owners. We were all non-Fiero owners at one time.

Anyway, lets all have a cookie and get along.

fierosound, its ironic to hear that since the fastest stock F-Body was the turbo Trans Am ('89 I believe) which of course was a turbo V6...

You cannot let a few people who like to rag on 4 cyl's bother you too much. No matter what forum your in, or club, group etc etc, there will be people who think their stuff is better than everyone elses and have no problems saying so.

I also think its not very fair to lump all V6 owners into the same group. Or all 88 owners for that matter. I've had the pleasure of driving both 4 and 6 cylinder Fieros, and both 88 and pre-88 suspensions in those Fieros. (Actually, an 85 SE 2m6, 87 SC with a duke and my 88 Formula). The 4 cyl wasn't as fast, but was a great car anyways. I don't see why anyone would go after someone with one.

As for the suspension, I can hardly notice the difference in normal street driving. Both the 85 SE and the Formula have the WS6 package... of course the 85 has 14" rims and no rear roll bar to the 88's rear roll bar and 15"s. There handling is very close. Certainly the 88 is not so much better that it warrents dissing pre-88's. In fact, I hate the parts cost for the suspension and brakes, which are almost twice the equivalent on the 85.

This is one of the best Forums on the net. Most people here are very friendly and helpful. Don't let a few people ruin a great resource for you!

Hey, it's a FIERO !! We love them all !!
Those that talk trash against someones car, aren't worth listening to.

My first Fiero was an 84 w/iron duke. I loved it, gas ping and all. I put over 230k on her !

I traded it in for an 85 V6 - ONLY for the reason, it sounded neat with the dual exhaust.

Just hope we all can love each others Fieros
for the sole reason 'cause it's a Fiero !!

The really sad thing about "last posts" is that you never know if they are just lurking about or gone for good.

Gone for good, its their loss.

he didnt say he wouldnt read the forum anymore, just that he wouldnt post again.

one of the problems with these internet web sites and forums is you dont have the human interaction you get when you are present with a person in the same room - facial expressions, tone of voice, body language.

its really easy for someone to say something one way and for someone else to take it another way, and get PO'd when the other guy was just having fun.

if its just a matter of pride he can always start a second username and continue to post with that one.

Hmmmmm... I did a user name search to see the threads he's posting in. Interesting stuff but not anything out of the ordinary for an Internet discussion board .

I'm betting one thread someone got real nasty or it went off PFF to e-mail. Either way someone probably got too personal. Too bad. I have participated on some forums where some people get completely weird if someone says/posts the wrong thing.

I can't believe everyone's getting all riled up over 4 vs 6 cylinders. Excuse me, but who the F*** really cares? My 1st Fiero was an '86 coupe with...the Iron Duck. I just sold an '85 GT (automatic) and currently drive another '85 GT (stick). I hear the same stupid discussion on the other forum I frequent (IntruderAlert). I own an '86 VS700 Intruder and get hell from the guys who own "real" bikes (namely the VS1400s and the LCs). If I wanted a bigger bike, I'd buy a bigger bike. If you (whoever) wants a larger motor, buy a car with a larger motor.

Some of these "discussions" are getting a bit childish and pathetic. Enjoy what you drive/ride or get something else. Don't worry about what others think. You'll never have the biggest or the "best". There's always someone bigger, stronger, richer, smarter, etc.

All I gotta say is...

Heh heh, I've got love for both worlds. I love my 4 cyl because "it's what I got". But probably I'll end up finding a notchback V6 and swap all my exterior and interior into the V6.

Well, looks like there is a 4 banger party going on and nobody invited me! Heh, heh, heh

Let's see, I think we are up to 12 beautiful running Fieros right now, and 4 of them are V6's. That means that I have more 4 bangers than V6's if I can still do math correctly... He, he

Listen, ignore those idiots that want to try and put us proud 4 cylinder owners down. They say that many times insults are a form of jeolousy. Aint that the truth!

4 cylinder Tech tip of the day: For very little money, you can get a 4 banger to perform so close to a V6, the only difference is what the engine looks like when you open the rear deck lid. My Fiero5 can keep up with the best of 'em. I even have a few V6 owners that can verify it first hand.

Either way, it doesn't really matter on a day by day basis. They look beautiful when you are driving them around, and the speed limit in 99.9% pof the country is 65, so who cares what a few V6 jerks think. I actually get a kick out of going a few rounds with 'em from time to time. Though they end up eating crow at some point, but it's part of the fun whatching them put their foot in their mouth at some point.

Check out my familys Fiero web site. Hasn't been updated in quite awhile, but you will get the idea if you have never seen it yet. Yup, you guessed it! 4 cylinders everywhere!!
http://www.kelleyfamilyfieros.homestead.com/index.html

Enjoy your 4 cylinder baby, and don't let what other poeple think bother you.

E-mail me off the forum and we can share 4 banger pics and stories.

See ya and enjoy your sweet ride!

Steve Kelley

P.S. Check out the red 86 on my recent post "3 new Fiero beauties and testing PIP" or something like that? That red 86 SS is an awesome 4 banger that can whip anything any normal V6 can whip.

Here is what my driveway looks like right now. Only two of those are V6's.

Be proud of her whatever she has for an engine, and she will give you many, many years of enjoyment.

Seems I'm a little late to this party.

All I know is I just drove 2,000 miles the past ten days, got 36 miles per gallon, used a whole half quart of oil, had no mechanical problems, and now have a new set of cheap refinished tech wheels to boot.

36 mpg makes the $2 gas a lot easier to handle. All this from an '86 2m4, automatic.

Some of us are past the drive as fast as you can stage...I just like having a car that everyone looks at and is cheap to drive.

Fiero5, have you been using the wings to hoist the rear end of the cars up? A couple of those look kinda stretched....

Nice looking Fleet.

That's only half of the fleet too. The other half is parked at my Dads. Kinda ran outa room at my place. They keep multiplying for some reason.

Strecthing? No stretching on any of them, as they are all stock in that department.

Thanks for the kind words.

Well, i was trying to stay out of this, but I had to say something! I dont see why everyone is fighting about 4 cyl VS. 6 cyl. This is about as bad as the MR2 stuff. I like 4 cyl engines better than most others because you can do so much with them. I have been in a lot of cars that have 4 cyl engines that blow the doors off most any v6 and a lot of v8's. I have also seen some mean V6 engines. I happen to like my 4 cyl.
I plan on doing either a 3.1L conversion or a Quad 4 conversion this summer on another fiero......leaning towards the Quad tho. It is sooooo much fun to beat V6 and V8 engines with a 4 cyl! Believe me.

Another thing, what was it that the Pace car had in it.....hmmmm, cant seem to remember......ooh yeah, a 4 CYL!!!!! Can you say SD4??????

Cant we all just get along??? We are all here for the same reason, F I E R O ! Now lets all get along
