Well after being up for 40 straight hours I finally made it back home with my baby. It runs so much better with the new slave I had Ed put in it.
I do have pics ofa 4.9 on the cradle but not in a Fiero. Ed still has to do the exhaust so you can use the stock one. Other than that he is almost done and will be putting it in one of his cars. I think he will be useing the 4-speed that comes with the 4.9.
Also for any of you that know the Blue Taz car, well he is getting rid of the 3800 he has and putting the 4.9 in his as well. Ed doesn't think that he will turn this into a kit like Archie has cause there is some welding that needs to be done.
Also I have lots more pics of the place and also a Formula with a turbo 3.4 in it. I will get pics up as soon as I can.
Boy do I miss driving my car already. Time to go driving

Thanks Ken

MooCow...did Ed happen to mention what he charges for the 4.9L swap? I have a garage storing an '86SE for me that needs an engine (still waiting for the salvage title from the state). I've been considering the 4.9L swap but won't have the time to attempt it myself until probably at least next summer (I've got too many progects on my other two Fieros to get finished this year). Towing it to Ed's may be a reasonable solution if it fits into my budget....

Just back from the Fiero Factory myself, where my wife and I picked up our new red '85 SE 5-speed on Saturday. Ed's a heck of a guy, and he's got some great cars around. I too got to see the Taz 3800 and talk to Ed about the 4.9 swap. He says it adds so little weight (especially in comparison to the 3800) that it's a near perfect option. I also got to drive his '85 SE 3.4 conversion, and loved the acceleration on that thing. Ed (and the Fiero Factory) rules!!!

I didn't think Ed does the 4.9 swaps. Taz did his own car.....

Taz's car is still a 3800 that he did himself; but he and Ed were there working together on the 4.9--they were talking about the details while I was there. Ed does want to see if he can do it practically as a mass conversion for us nuts.

Also, MooCow, Ed said he was highly interested in putting together a 4.9 kit. I can see that the welding would be a problem, but he was still trying to look for ways around it and see if it could be put out as a kit. Maybe, maybe not. Either way, Ed is very interested in trying to make this a standard conversion.

Hey, here's the final word (for now) on Ed's 4.9 conversion. This is off of the Yahoo group, from Ed himself:

"Sammy, and all, we are really NOT offering a 4.9 Cadillac conversion. At
least not at this time, and maybe never.

We are slowly, very slowly, attempting to develop a kit that we hope will
allow a 1 week installation time at a reasonable price. Regardless of
whether the Fiero is 84-87, 88, manual trans, or auto. If this time frame
cannot be realized at the shop, then we will only offer the specialized
parts for DIY.

We do have 5 new 4.9's at the shop that will be installed. But they are
for folks that are providing their time, knowledge, resources, $$'s, and
long waiting periods to see if this can be accomplished. By taking this
approach, shop time is very little and that will hold down overall
development costs and ultimately the prices of any "kit" that may result.
Just takes longer, lots longer, then devoting shop time to this project.

To give you an idea of what is involved: custom mounting brackets that
bolt to any year
Fiero cradle and use "off the shelf" mounts for the engine, custom
brackets that mount "off the shelf" belt tensioners and idler pulleys,
"off the shelf" axles and trans mount brackets for auto's or specially
made flywheels and clutches for manual trans, "off the shelf" control
cables, "off the shelf" coolant connections, custom made a/c manifold
lines, a custom built exhaust system that will bolt up to a stock Fiero
one, and finally a custom "plug and play" wiring harness or at least
instructions of how you modify one.

And... keep all this within a reasonable price and time frame and with
easy access for future service.

Think that anyone that has "crossbred" an engine (except a 3.4) would
agree that we are attempting the impossible to accomplish within the 1
week time frame.

Hope this will lay to rest all the rumors. These are the facts of the
matter.
