In all the pictures I have seen, I have never seen one of the Indys (or replicas!) running around with a front license plate. The license plate is not embossed - it is completely flat, and has light surface rust on the back, which tells me it's not aluminum like today's plates are. I have seen 3 Indy plates online before - 1 on someone's webpage a long time ago, showing a key fob taped to it, and 2 on eBay. All have had the same number - "120".

Here's a pic of my luggage... the set I got consists of a large soft-sided suitcase (goes in the lower well of the trunk), a cylindrical duffle (fills the remander of the space in the lower well of the trunk), and two small rectangular carry-ons - both sit in the upper part of the trunk on top of the other two pieces, leaving a small section open in the center of the trunk, perfect to add a bagged car cover.
quote
Boomtastic sez: *Anytime* you would like to part with the luggage, please keep me in mind. (Price doesn't matter) I'd LOVE to have a set in my collection!
Well, that's certainly a bold statement that got my attention... ::chuckle:: I don't really have any wishes of selling it, but I suppose that if someone offered me a sufficiently stoopid amount of cash for the set, I'd be foolish not let it go, but it'd have to be a pretty stoopid amount of money right now. Heck, I even have an inkling that it may have been taken into consideration by the popular vote at the Nationals to help me get the 3rd Place trophy. I'll never know for sure if that's true or not, though. (I don't have a figure in mind, but I'm not closed-minded to offers. Life's too short to be anything but open-minded, about a lot of things.)

I appreciate that! Still got a long way to go before this baby is ready for shows though... And seem to have turned my attention to the T-top for the moment.. but there will come a day... heheh
I've got an original copy of the Performance Plus magazine, and several Car and Driver and other mags too. Not in really good shape, though. Have a 1/25 scale model of an 85 GT, unassembled. Have a 1/25 or 1/32 scale Fiero slot car. Looks like an Indy with an IMSA spoiler. (Still packed up from when I moved.) Have a couple of HO scale TYCO Fiero slot cars. Have two yellow Hot Wheels Fieros. The one with the 5-spoke wheels, you can still buy at WalMart, but the one with "wire" wheels (like a Formula) I haven't seen elsewhere.

Kelvin, my 85 coupe/SE was the same - the tags on the SPI label identified it as an SE, with the rally suspension (Y99?) and the base 13 inch steel rims with beauty rings. Coupe interior, no radio and no speakers in the headrests. It was a truly odd car. I still don't understand how an SE could have the 13 inch rims - they were mutually exclusive on the dealer order sheet.

I don't know how rare it is but I have a 1987 catalog from Premier Motor Accessories featuring various Fiero accesssories. Following are some highlights (sorry for the poor pictures):
Front cover:
Page 8 shows some stuff like cup holders, wood grain panels, floor mats, etc.:
I thought this was an unusual option, a ski rack for a fastback GT (anybody got one?):
Rear window shades. Note the GT shade sags in the middle:
And... what every Fiero man should wake up to:
Fun stuff,

hmmm my rare item... an 84 that didn't catch fire actually I don't know that I have anything rare... well my paint job maybe doesn't count though either!
Here's my contribution - one of two Indy things that I own :-) I picked this up off eBay earlier this summer for about $35. I'm surprised Boomtastic never went after it - perhaps because it's a medium and looks like it fits a 14 year old? Can anyone tell me about this sweater - like how you could get one? I suspect it was something you could order from the dealer, but it's the only one I've ever seen come up on eBay, in two years of watching Fiero auctions.
Cheers - Andrew

I see no reason from the pic up there to doubt that they're authentic...
Here's a side shot of them, showing the "height".

How about a smooth (not textured) sunroof air deflector? Evidently these were available on early '84s......they went to the textured look for more durability (I'm guessing). These smooth ones get scuffed up way to easily.
I have 2 or 3 of them, but only one is "mint".....it came off of a 45K mile '84 coupe in a junkyard.
The pic isn't as clear as I'd like, but if you look closely you can see the difference (the bottom one is the smooth one).

I've got two seats with speaker holes in the headrest, WITH speakers, and that's how they came from the factory. Both grey, so I don't think it's very rare, unless you're talking about something totally different than me which is probably the case.

Sloth - we were talking about seats with the holes but WITHOUT the speakers. Apparently this wasn't supposed to be possible; even with radio delete one was supposed to get the speakers in the seat. Dave K (I believe) told me this when I asked about the radio delete option. Hope this clears things up
Cheers!

Hey sloth85GT,
Yeah, hehe... I was talking about seats WITH speaker holes, but WITHOUT speakers. I was at a Pick-n-Pull with "Toddster" who is also on this Forum, and I noticed an immaculate passenger seat. Since the seat had speaker holes, I thought it would have speakers inside (as the ones you have and the majority of the other seats with speaker holes.) However, the two seats in the wrecked Fiero didn't have speakers in the headrest (the driver seat was ripped so I left it.)
"85SE" has seats such as the one I found, in his 85 (see above). Thanks for the response 85SE, I was wondering if the person who owned that wrecked Fiero had his seats recovered, but I figured that it most likely came from the factory that way.
When I ordered my 85GT I ordered the car without any stereo equiptment and I had the speaker holes in the headrest and no speakers. I happen to know that this was common practice for the cars that were ordered with no radios. I don't know how many people ordered cars with out radios. I later put in after market speakers in my seats.

The smooth textured air deflector is great., I had mine painted to match the car color on my fastback. Too bad they failed to paint the back side.....pecker heads.....
I doubt that the 84 pace cars had a front license plate. I don't remember seeing any with one back then, and I do vividly remember the cars... Anyway, here in Indiana we don't have the front plate requirement. JJ

I have that same silver plate that basically says "Take care of your car because it could catch on fire". i found it in a junk yard car. How many are out there and when where they placed in the car? Also those louvers for the back windows, i have a set for a notchback. i got them from a junk yard but have never seen them on a car on the road. Is it rare?

I have something VERY, VERY, RARE. I was at a swap meet about 6 years ago with a sandwhich sign that read "WANTED ANYTHING FIERO" This guy came up to me and said his buddy down the row has some fiero stuff. So I get down to this guy tell him his buddy sent me down to him. He goes back into his RV trailer comes out with this BIG plastic wrapped bag. He unwraps it and I couldn't believe my eyes, It was a full size passanger body panel mounted on board with plex-glass over it except for in the center where you would hit it, it had a rope connected with a hammer (but the hammer was missing) Then it had the Fiero emblem and talked about the endra-flex panel it is silk screened on the pelx-glass. The guy said he got it from a friend who worked for Pontiac and it was used at the autoshow in 85, I know in 84 they used a bowling ball on a rope and let you pull back the bowling ball and let it go into the door panel to show the dent resistance panels. If I get a chance I will try to take some picture of it. I will be selling it in the future though because it's to big for me it just stays wrapped up it the basement just sitting there.

I think I've seen that! Seems like I remember whacking a door panel (a red one?) with *something* at an auto show.

Originally posted by coolcat: I have a pair of Mecham side scoops I really didn't know they were rare until now. How rare are they?
I think "rare" gets overused, but the Mecham 3-port side scoops certainly are "hard-to find" because they are no longer made. They were urethane, just like the Fieros body panels and were/are a simple bolt on mod.
Several people decided to reproduce these scoops in fiberglass......nothing wrong with that, but the majority of these scoops need a lot of finishing work to fit right and look good once painted.
I also have a set of the original scoops and there must be others out there as well (either on a car or in someones basement), so they aren't rare, per se.
As for red '87 Fieros, while definitley "rare", there are more than two out there. Where did you get your info Brian? Just curious.

My 87GT was red before someone (not me this time) did a poor job of making it black (missed enough places to make it necessary to visit the paint shop again...)

Yeah, but most 87's are Medium Red and not bright red.

Scarce, but not rare .. unless you consider that it hasn't either:
a) Fallen off. b) Been stolen.
.. then yes, it's rare! If I had known that they would be worth so much money, I would have hung on to all the ones I bought for $15/each. 'Course, I also would have invested in the $99 "Accessory" (Group 21.00) spoiler that GM offered, which I could have bought for $75/each all day long. I would have bought all I could! Ahhh - hindsight truly is 20/20!
i have the chop top i got from fierodave. i guess not rare since it's not an original pontiac creation (or is it? ), but kind of mysterious anyway since no one seems to know who did it or where it originaly came from.

I found a hotrod performance magazine in my box of old books. It has detailed instructions on how to make a tube frame SD4 race car and the super duty engine guide. Blue print in still in it. Not really "rare" because i've seen them on ebay a few times
