I was just wondering the techniques people use to upholster interior fiberglass parts. I buy vinyl from my local walmart for $3 a squared metre, and use a combination of spray glue and a hot glue gun. I'm afraid that this might cause a problem in the future, because parts of cars tend to get hot, which means the hot glue will melt. What other ways can upholstering be done? (I tried to find a book at my local library / book store but everything was listed as special order)

I can't think of any fiberglass interior parts. Which ones are you referring to? I'm also planning on covering my new (should be shipped soon) fiberglass headliner board in vinyl. The only problem I could really see would be the small hump at the front of the overhead lights. Since I'll be installing my HVAC controls there, I could just cut that part out so I shouldn't have any problems.

Most aftermarket fiberglasss interior stuff (dash boards, door panels, centerconsoles, etc...) are made from fiberglass... in other words my whole interior.

I pondered on that question myself for a long time. I took my dash around to local shops just to see what kind of price they would quote me. They would take one look and say, sorry can’t help you. They wouldn’t even give me an outlandish price. It can’t be that hard. I bought material, played around with it some, and I came to the conclusion that I would never get it the way that I want it to look. Plus I wanted a neat stitch done on it. I finally found a guy in FL that did a better job than I expected.
you should invest in some good vynil because cheap vynil will be hard to stretch around tight areas and get all the bumps and folds out. 3m contact spray will work great just let it tack before applying. also warming up the vynil will help it stretch alittle better. use heat gun on low. or steam it! depends on how much stretching is needed!
