Now granted im not serious...of cource its OK to like the notchback but most everyone I talk to thinks its the worst looking fiero model.
I like it the best..am I crazy? also curious...does the lack of the fastback piece save on weight? hurt on aero dynamics? I'm guessing yes on both. I'd like to get some forum feedback..how about the notchbacK?

Nope...you aren't crazy! I love my notchback! Everyone thinks the notchbacks have the 4cyl and the fastbacks have the v6, so I always surprise them! As far as weight, I think it is a little lighter. Not sure how much, but some. Don't think it affects aerodynamics though!

I doubt it hurts much on aerodynamics.. read at all.. because aerodynamicaly there the same.. the fastbacks are still notchback cars, so there really isn't any difference.. and weight and 84 SE wieghed around 2450, and an 88GT weighed around 2850, so something adds the wieght, and it's not the V-6 because they only weigh 75lbs more than the I-4

I used to think notchbacks were ugly, I had two GT's. Guess what................. I now have two notchbacks. I sold the GT's and bought better notchbacks.
There are always notchback cars in the local yards, hardley ever GT's. At least it is that way where I live.
I think notchbacks are easier to get access to the engine from the side....at least for short people.
I think the SE model is the best notchback.
Peace

I tend to like notchbacks better. I have one of each, both 88's. Personally, I think the fastback thing is kind of silly. It's not a real fastback, only the side quarter window pieces. The rear window is the same, straight up & down. The taillights and bumper shape are different, but to me the fastback is not prettier.

I prefer notchback's. I am going on my thrid one. My first was a red 85 GT. The second was a maroon 87 SC. Now I have another 85 GT this time black. This is my friends, a 86 SE. That was the day I bought the wheels from him.

Hehhehehe! I've got one of each engine, both notchbacks. Notchbacks and fastbacks are both great styles. I like'em both even though I like the standard (non-aero) nose much better.

My first was a notchback, now I have a fastback. I miss my first car. I think the notchbacks look lower from the back because of the lower, wider-looking tail lights. I also think they look better from the side. I just never like the blind-spot behing my head, the fastback has better visability.

Some notchbacks have the side window tinted and others don't...or at least so it appears in many of the pictures. I prefer the notchbacks.....as long as that window isn't tinted....

Which window do you mean? The Drivers and pass windows? You saying notchbacks look bad with tinted windows? Or are you refering to the sail panels? I like only the solid panels on notchbacks.

I think he means fastback. A notchback would look like a nissan pulsar with a clear sail panel.

The GT's are nice, I don't have anything against them, and I WOULD own one, however, they tend to blend in with all the other sporty type cars around these days.
I think notchbacks RULE! An American original!!!!

Hey, I like what you did with that pic FieroX, I have been wondering how to put louvers on the back window of my Formula. I couldn,t figure out how to do it and still be able to open the rear deck lid. THen I thought about letting them come out on the sides something like your extensions giving it the fastback look. Have yet to figure out how to make anything work without having to remove it everytime you open the rear deck lid, plus I don't have the talent when it comes to fabricating anyway.

Unauthorized use of my copyrighted sig. If you want a GT and and love notchbacks then do what I did and get an 85GT. It doesn't have the 5 speed which I really love in my 88 Coupe but it doesn't really need it with the V6. They're leaner(2572 vs 2708-2815) and meaner. Everybody expects the fastback to be "fast". The notchback will catch them sleeping. Add a V8 and they won't know what hit them. As the white faced Chevy Chase said in Modern Problems, " I-I-I-I-I like it.
One that I would love to add to my collection would be:
1984 Fiero base coupe: white with tan interior, 4-spd econo tranny, hard top, 13-in steel rims, am radio, hardtop, "naked" rear decklid (i.e. no luggage rack).
What a fun commuter that would make, well maybe not, I need some music, but at least it would be a cool Fiero. For now my 87 SE 4-cyl is my daily commuter car, I love it. 35+ mpg...
Happy motoring, KV
