I am looking for ideas to replace the existing fuel door on my 86 gt. Something like the Audi TT or eclipse look without too many modifications. Anyone know of any that are basically a perfect fit?

My Fiero has a harley gas filler on it and looks cool as hell, but there is quite a bit of modifying needed in order to do this

there are some more pics on my site: Worldwide Fiero Links

Yeah, Doni's car utilized extensive modifications... it's called a "sticker" read about it here: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/010559.html

I have the parts to do a conversion using the door from the Izuzu Vehicross... but it too will take a fair amount of mods. The one for the audi TT is extremely expensive and too rounded, the one from an eclipse is too large. I checked for motorcycle parts... they might work. Otherwise the Vehicross parts are just slightly larger than the existing opening (when you remove the current cup/door assembly) and only run around $85. I probably won't get around to trying to install it until sometime next year!

I didn't change the door, but I like the look when the ring is painted black.

Anybody ever try these? I'm planning on getting one after the holidays, they run about $140 from Sparco. Someone should look into the sizes, not sure yet if they are too big or too small.

Check this URL. I was going to get one of these but was afraid of looking too much like a ricer. http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=160573&BQ=sc

That's basically what Doni has on his car (see above photo).

MMmmm~! I like that Harley filler, and am not afraid of extensive mods. Got a page/post with full info?

Best!

Fotofrank,

Where did you find that on the website?

I have the catalog, but it is not listed...

I think that looks good! And it's 1/2 the price of what Doni paid!!

RedHott88... they're listed in JC Whitney's Sport & Compact section. Try the website: http://www.jcwsportcompact.com and look for stock numbers: 47XU3338W (5.2" round), 47XU3339U (4.76" round), 47XU3340B (4.33" round), or 47XU3341P (5.75"x4.5" rectangle)
They're all listed at $12.99

BTW: I may still have to get one from Doni... just 'cause it says "green car" on it

Yep MinnGreen is correct. They are in the Sport and Compact catalog. I measured my gas cover at 5.0 inches so this is what we need: 47XU3338W (5.2" round) The extra 0.20 inches can be easily trimmed,if needed but I feel that the ring around the gas cover is greater than 5.0 inches. So it will fit. Remember it is round so the size is only 0.10 inches on each edge. So should I get one and will other Fiero owners point and laugh? I have given this idea much thought

I didn't do the harley mod myself, but I know the basics of what's involved with the mod: The first thing that was done was cutting a new hole for where the new gas filler will go, and then glassing over the old one. Then the gas line was rerouted to the new hole, and one of those cool fast-fill nozzles was put on underneath it (so you don't need a cap.
I know that is making it seem like a small task, but it does take a little work, if you used filler and had someone to paint it for you, it would probably be pretty cheap though.
GtFiero1: I'll never give out the details of how to attach Mr. Fusion to the fiero though
Good luck,
Mike

I just installed some round headed hex bolts around the rim to see how it looks. The paint was chipping so I sanded if (that's why it's black).

I've been thinking of doing the black one from Sparco when I do my bodywork.
This will be later this year, but I'll post it when it's done.
