I was going through the archieves and came across under General Chat entitled "20 grand for a fiero" anyways I guess you can't bring it back up to todays general chat (or could you?) anyways Ray b and Fformula 88 wanted the 1988 fieros stick and auto production numbers so here they are:
BASIC COUPE: 13,910 MADE STICK 7,312 AUTO 6,598
FORMULA: 5,643 MADE STICK 2,897 AUTO 2,746
GT: 6,849 MADE STICK 3,799 AUTO 3,050

Thanks for posting that John. A lot of people just don't believe me (or anyone else for that matter) that it was approximaely a 50-50 split between sticks and autos.
I was surprised to see there were more stick GT's than autos. though. I have owned 6 or 7 '88 GT's and only one was a stick.

Thanks for posting! I barely remember posting about it but hey, no prob.
I have the percentage of Fiero's year by year that were manuals. So I calculated out the approximate production numbers based on the percentages, so the numbers may be off by a couple cars here or there... say +/- 5 or so.
1984: 56.7% 4-spds 77,588 43.3% Auto 59,252 Total Fieros 136,840
1985: 21.8% 4-spd 16,648 31.2$ 5-spd 23,828 53.0% Manual 40,476 47.0% Auto 35,895 Total Fieros 76,371
1986: 21.3% 4-spd 17,886 28.6% 5-spd 24,017 49.9% Manual 41,903 50.1% Auto 42,071 Total Fieros 83,974
1987: 45.4% 5-Spd 21,148 54.6% Auto 25,433 Total Fieros 46,581
1988: 52.4% 5-spd 13,834 47.6% Auto 12,567 Total Fieros 26,401
Total 4-spds: 112,122 30.3% 5-Spds: 82,827 22.4% Total Manuals: 194,949 52.7% Autos: 175,218 47.3% Total Fieros: 370,167
I also have the number of Canadian models sold, but not with any option percentages: 1984: 10,926 1985: 6,892 1986: 5,643 1987: 2,138 1988: 730
PS: Production numbers are from Pontiac Historical Services so I take them as accurate.

Trust me these numbers are exactly right, this is informatiom obtained in 1990 from a Pontiac person that worked there (they got fired for using company time digging into stuff like this) Percentages are not always accurate and as the years go on "facts" I see get twisted to help someone or another to sell something and all of a sudden it's LAW, plus there where 26,402 made.
As for Indiana_resto_guy heres some stats for you: ROOF OPTIONS FOR 88 26,402 FIERO MADE IN 88 15,240 SOLID ROOF 9,910 SUNROOF 1,252 T-TOP
AS FOR GT'S IN 88 6,849 GT MADE IN 88 2,323 PLAIN ROOF 3,912 SUNROOF 614 T-TOPS
In depth information like this will be in my book when it's done.

Hey CoolBlue87GT out of those 2,139 Canadian Fieros made in 1987, do you have any access to any stats of how many of those were 5 Speed GT's with a Sunroof and Burgandy paint. I never realized that my Fiero was that rare. Only 2,139 Fieros Canadian based surprised me. I bet only a few hundred were GT's as well. If you have any way of getting stats for the Canadian sold ones in 87 that would be cool. Thanks.
Mrfixit58, assuming and percentages will never be exact only facts and what if I told you it was less (people see your post and start saying only 12 5-speed yellow GT's made) now your trying to tell people Wait,Wait it's less, then you start looking like the little boy who cried wolf. You see my point, I'm not trying to start a flame war either. What if I said there were more then 12. The facts will come out when I'm done putting it together. If you want to see how off percentages are look at Fformula 88 percentages for 1988 and add the total of the true numbers I have. Plus Do I have your vin# Roy? Email if you have any questions.

No, sorry. I didn't compile that list. I found it a few months back.
Hope someone might remember where that came from. It would be neat to find out about your question.
8-ball, there are over 40 something and there are more, LET ME REPEAT! there are over 40 something and there are more, like I said the information for the book is not complete yet

I still want to know why no one has ever reproduced the ttop seals? I know for a fact if I had a new set to work from I could get them reproduced in about a months time. So why has no one done this?

I have one!

...Yellow GT, 5-speed, T-top cars...... WOW!!! For all those wishing to see this rare car in person, I'll have it at the Daytona show in March... Ya'll come!
Mark Hoagland has one, although it might be an auto. I have also seen one around town once or twice, but again not sure on trans type.

Cost is the most obvious reason that they are not reproduced. Have you ever seen the seals? They have molded corners. I imagine it would take thousands of dollars just to set up the tooling to make them. And then how many people are going to be willing to buy them to help cover the costs? There aren't that many T-top Fieros out there. If you could make them and sell them for $200 or even $500 a set, you'd be in bussiness, but I don't think it's possible. If you've got the ability and the cash to do it, go for it, I think you'd make a lot of T-top owners happy.

I think you all will find that a silver '88 (be it coupe, Formula or GT) is the lowest produced with T-Tops......far fewer than the "all-mighty" yellow ones.
The reason being is that silver '88s stopped being built in Oct. or Nov. '87......well before the T-Top production got into full swing. Besides......in March '88, when they announced the axing of the Fiero, everyone wanted a fully loaded '88, so many more T-Tops were built in the second half of the '88 production run than in the first.
It's all speculation on my part, but I personally think a silver '88 Formula with factory T-Tops is the "rarest". I guess we'll have to wait and see when John's book is done.

Next level trends prez, what is your vin# you can email me at podziemj@matc.edu, first I have to check to see if it's a ship-thru t-top? Mr.Fiero, you are correct the silver color with t-tops, is the rarest, but not only because of the 2 reasons you gave. C&C went on strike in late 1987 as well, so the Dealerships were informed, if a customer wanted the t-top option it was going to be a wait. (Little bit of History!)
