I keep getting more and more reservations each day, so call while there are still some slots open - we are now at 31 people, I will be calling tommorrow to tell them to expect more people....
Red eye flight from MA to CA - $1500 Hotel - $65.00 Chance to see, touch, and smell the 1989 Fiero prototype, as well as take pictures with the digital camera? Priceless.
Count me in! Chester should have contacted you by now, but here's my "formal" answer. So now I suppose I should start shopping for airfare ..

Please let me know if I have missed your name.
Chris and I have been discussing having a BBQ here, but we have also openned up a dialogue with the chamber of commerce of El Segundo and we might be able to park on the lawn of one of thier huge parks and have a car show of sorts with a BBQ there, and have the kind citizens of El Segundo check out our cars and such - so I guess it comes down to a vote with you guys and gals: BBQ here at the shop, or out in a park under the L.A. sun?
The BBQ thing dosen't matter much to me since we are flying in. As long as we have a way to get there Hint hint...Also be sure to add Elvira (Renee Dabrowski) to guest list.
I hope a HUGE thread can get started full of just 89 prototype pictures, I'm sick of seeing the same 5 over and over and over again, don't get me wrong, they still make me drool, but I wanna see every nook and cranny of that car. I would love to in person, but there's the matter of money and lots of miles keeping me from doing it. I wonder how much it would cost for the forum members to buy the car from them We can take a collection and then transport it amongst all of the members. I got first dibs!
And Eric, you never did answer that question, which 89 Fiero is it?

Ok, I'm probably stating the obvious, but just in case...
When taking the pics of the 89, go ahead and get all the nice angles and beauty shots of the inside and outside, but please try to get eye level, straight on shots of all the body panels, details, etc. If anyone decides to reproduce body panels, interior parts, or graphics, they'll need pics to go by that aren't distorted by being taken at an angle.
Yeah, get tons of snapshots, but also get some up close "conservator" shots!
Any details like: Any Pontiac or Fiero emblems or labeling wheel center caps wheels front end front grill closeup fenders, doors, etc. closeup fender vent closeup rear decklid vent closeup taillight closeup (have to split this up) overall dash picture closeup of each dash gauge and the idiot light panel (lit, preferably )
you get the idea.

supposedly, it is supposed to be the GT prototype, I had never seen the car at the museum before which meant that it was in the vault, makes me wonder what else is in the vault - hehe WERE GOING TO FIND OUT
Eric, god dammit, if you don't get anything less than 500 pictures of this car we are gonna chew your ass out majorly. We won't care either for you to post all 500 plus too.
J/k, I feel so bad i Can't go. Have a good time and no matter what, there is never enough pictures!!! WHo knows, they might put this car into the crusher (hate to think of it) soon.
Everyone must take pictures, very important!

What is the weather like out that way so I know what to pack. I know it has to be warmer than it is here in NH! Looks like Chester and I win the long distance award! Boomtastic and MsBeth are right behind! We can't wait!! We've never been to the west coast.

Do you know of any reasonable hotels in the area? I'm thinking Holiday Inn to Motel 6 kind of thing. I checked MapBlast and according to them, there are no hotels withing 30 miles. I find that hard to beleive.

not only is it hard to believe, but its not true depends, what is your price range. There are hoards of Hiltons and Marriots around here, as well as Best Westerns and Travel Lodges. The area you would want to inquire about is the Venice-Marina del Rey-Culver City-Santa Monica areas. That would put you in about a 4-5 mile distance from the shop for which ever one you would want to stay at. Instead of throwing a BBQ after the museum, I was thinking that since folks are going to be meeting up here on Friday night anyways, we might as well have a get together here at the shop and maybe caravan over to one of the local restauraunts and terrorize as only Fiero enthususiasts can do
We are still working out the details as far as where everyone will meet up Saturday, whether or not to meet up here at the shop, or just go ahead and visit the museum. It might be better to meet here first so that when we arrive at the museum we are all there at once. Might make things a little easier, but it will still be a logistical challenge so it should be interesting

There's going to be so many cameras flashing and video lights that the tour guide is gonna freak! They'll realize they got something special there, and didn't even know it. After this, there might be no chance of ever getting it out of their hands. I sure do wish I could go.

My friend and I might miss that. We won't be in town until about 10pm Friday night. Maybe sooner with some craetive driving. Maybe you can pm me a cel phone # so if we get into town early enough, we could just meet you at the restaurant.
I think it would be great if we could meet at the shop first then go to the museum. I would hate to get lost trying to find the place.

I have a maximum of 836 pictures I can take on my Digital Cam. With my taste, I'll probably be using highest qaulity only giving me 97 pictures though. Maybe I'll have a 128mb Mem card shipped in!!! Then I can do 194 High quality pics!!! Plus the 64mb I have for a grand total of 291 High Resolution images!!!!
It's confirmed though, I'm a going!!!

# 1 totally...some of these people have never been here in L.A. and its big and spread out, don't wanna get anybody lost. plus the shop is 10 min from LAX and all the hotals by LAX.
maybe this can help some people:
Directions Miles 1. Start out going East on ARRIVALS ACC by turning right. 0.7 2. Take the CA-1 NORTH/SEPULVEDA BLVD NORTH ramp. 0.1 3. Keep RIGHT at the fork in the ramp. 0.2 4. Merge onto S SEPULVEDA BLVD/CA-1 N. 0.5 5. Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto LINCOLN BLVD/CA-1 N. 4.3 6. Turn RIGHT onto WASHINGTON BLVD. 0.0 7. Turn RIGHT onto DEL REY AVE. 0.1 8. Turn LEFT onto BEACH AVE. 0.1
Eric: i know its winter and all but maybe its time to do that bonfire beach party at Dockweilers with all these people coming.

is actually trickier than it sounds unless you know what the hell is going on. I've been there b4 now, so should be easy enough for me.
So, anybody have any kind of consensus as to what the average hotel room is gonna cost? Anybody coming alone? If my friend isn't able to come I could split a room w/ somebody (so long as you have decent hygene )

gathering up to go to a museum that started out with 20-25 people, now is 100+ people and beginning to take shape as a rolling car show....Very Interesting
For some this could be a logistics nightmare, seems like blessing to me - to have geographically diverse people from all over the US to converge here at WCF - WOW
OK - Golden Gate, CFOG-I, San Diego, Northern California, Nevado Road Club, Arizona Fieros, Silver State Fieros, and Fieros Northwest - - - - - - - - Any of you guys want to help throw together a car show real quick? because it would be a great oppurtunity
There wouldnt neccassarily have to be trophies - just the comraderie
we need to figure this all out - 24 days left and counting.........
Originally posted by venger: Maybe the next Fiero is in the Vault. Or maybe the 1990 fiero. That would be the BOMB!!!!!!!
correction - called today and confirmed It IS the 1990 Fiero prototype
they are now giving me the run around saying that it will be 10 people max in the vault for 1 and only session, however ALL that go will have a huge guided tour of the entire museum ( which is EXREMELY hard to get in itself )
the old number that Janice had at the museum to give to her director was 30 people, that was kosher with him - but now she is presenting a new number of an estimated 80 to 90+ people which may not go over with the director. But still - even if worst case scenario some don't get to so the Fiero, you will be seeing other cars in the museum that no one else in the country has seen in years.
It may come down to simply limiting the number of people, and those people being those who will take and graph, chart, memorize, and note every detail of the car for the rest of us so that nothing will be completly in vain.
but as it stands this second it is still on for seeing the car - more news will follow shortly as it comes in...........
NOW...... as far as a get together, what Chris, I, and others have settled on is meeting up here at the shop - printing out a schedule for everyone to follow or go by for the museum so nobody gets lost so that once we leave we will go to a huge open grass park in El SEgundo where we will have this awesome BBQ place cater with this portable open pit BBQ and everything...
the only thing we are waiting on is an estimate from the caterer and Administrator for Parks and Recreation to give us the go ahead
