The only chance to see a 90 Fiero. And I might not be able to see it. What if they let 15 or so people in at a time for about 10 min. each. That should be enough time to take pictures and what not.
Although if you get a bunch of people you might miss a few of the details. Where as a few people wouldn't miss much of anything.

I think a lot of people will be disappointed if they travelled all the way to California NOT to see the prototype Fiero (even if the rest of the display was nice).
Initially you were limiting the number of people to 30......what happened? You should have stuck to that initial number and cut it off at that point. Better to be disappointed that you didn't make the list to begin with than be disappointed that you made the list and can't see the car!
I know if I were the people at the museum and I went out of my way to allow 30 people from a particular group tour the facility then was told that number was now over 100 I would be PO'd.
There are several people coming from out of state, myself included. I will be driving, but many will be flying in. We're talking a lot of $$ will be spent just to get to this museum......let alone the hotel and food costs. I'm pretty sure the majority of these 'out of towners' don't want to spend all of this time and $$ and not be allowed to view the only real reason they flew/drove there in the first place.
We ALL want to see the prototype Fiero and if that is not possible with the number of people (over 100), then you need to scale it back down to where it was initially (around 30 or so). I think that is the only fair thing to do.
**EDIT**
I like onfire's suggestion. Take several smaller groups in to see the Fiero for a smaller amount of time so everyone can see the car and take pics.
Ask the museum people about that.
I would also suggest that you cut off the list right now.....don;t add anymore names to it (otherwise it will be 200-300 people!). If they still say no to that idea then you can further scale back the list on a first come/first serve basis (those at the end of the list get bumped first) until they are happy with that number.
You need to get something squared away soon though, so there will be time for those that need to buy airline tickets to get them early (and cheaper).
Let us know what is going on.
Thanks.

yes, yes I know - your not saying anything that I have all ready felt and heard - but I figured it was better to keep everyone up to date with the situation than to have them come all the way out here and be dissapointed
----please don't see me as an ass hole, I'm just trying to make everything work here
I talked to Janice about doing several sessions but she said " My manager does not like to play tour guide", so I said " We'll, we can show ourselves around just fine" - she replied with a quick " for liability reasons - no"

I don't think that at all! I was just staing the obvious (I figured you had thought of it as well). I persoanlly think (and this is just my opinion) that you should limit it to the original 30 people. If we don't tick these people off it might be possible to arrange another viewing in the future.

I think that seals the deal. You should limit the number of people to the original 30.......otherwise how will these "chosen few" be chosen? I think there will be more hard feelings picking a handful out of 100 to see the car vs. all 30 being able to see it and the other 70 staying at home.
Whatever we do, we need to tread lightly and not burn any bridges with these museum people. Like I said above, if this first time goes off without a hitch it will be easier to arrange a future meeting. If we screw this up now I think our chances of a return visit are nil.
Keep us updated with what the latest is.

So WHAT is going on now??? I need to know FOR SURE that we will be able to see this prototype. I couldn't give a rat’s ass about the rest of the show. I don't want to fork over $1500-$2000 dollars to see some "cars in a museum" I can do that here. Time is running short. We are traveling CROSS COUNTRY HERE PEOPLE! The "Well if you don't see the prototype it's still a good show" doesn’t cut it. Is there commitment or not?
Too me this almost as exciting as being able to take a peek inside Roswell. I did not even know there was an 90 Fiero prototype. I have seen pics and read some articles on the 89, but the 90 is news to me. I am really interested in finding out which engine an tranny they are using in the later models, and what the interior looks like. For those of you fortunate enough to go check it out, please take lots of pictures. Good work on organizing the trip, sounds like a swell idea.

We might have to go with plan B - 10 people max ( the number which they had first limited to us with no questions asked, before we got 30 ok'd ) to go and see this car PURELY for photographic recon - get all, any, and everything we can about the car - 35mm, digital, video - EVERYTHING we can

I'll go but I don't think that my Fiero in it's present condition will make the drive safely. I will have to ride my motorcycle. But I will bring my still Sony Mavica MVC-FD75 digital camera and 20 or so disks to take pics with. BBQ? hhmmm..can I strap a roast to my back on the way down there?

BTW, if liability clauses are in effect..what about taking everyone to see "it" and the museum can charge a couple of extra bucks per head. It could pay for the insurance and give the pocket incentive to the manager to ok everyone. I hate to say it but, money talks.

Then please give out the list of those that are on it if that is what you are planning on doing ..

I think the 1990 Fiero is a haox, whoever at the museum mentioned it probably doesn't know anything about Fieros. They probably wouldn't make a 90 prototype without releasing an 89 model of the fiero.

I would really like to go, and have the money to spend on the trip.
But seeing everyone wants to go, I can see this being a problem.
Don't blame Eric for the short notice, I'm sure he didn't want to get anyones hopes up untill he had confirmation on this.
I say we all would be lucky even if only 10 people did have the chance to go, and photographed / videoed it, and also see first hand that there is in fact at least 1 89 or 90 what ever it may be left in existance.
Seeing there is only an hour to view this car, it would be hard for the 30 people to get a good look, and still leave the image that we are not a bunch of monkeys jumping over one another to see it. This would almost defenitely null any chance of another showing.
It would be nice if a small group, on there best behavior went, documented what they can, and leave a lasting impression on the museum staff.
Maybe Eric can talk more with who ever is in charge, about a possible future showing. I know I would gladly pay just to see it.
Eric, maybe you can talk with the staff, and tell them there is Huge interest in viewing this car, and that there are people from all over who would dearly love to have the chance to see it. I for one am willing to travel from the other end of the continent to have the chance. Maybe they could do something on a bigger scale in the future. Give more people the oppurtunity, to view this. Maybe we can raise enough funds to cover the staff operating cost for a whole day?
I'm going to sit this oppertunity out, I don't want to be a part of anything that can screw this chance up.
Really looking forward to what ever documentation comes out of this.
Good job so far Eric!

if I have upset anyone by just relaying the news - then vent now, please, and get it over with
I do not want to "pick" 10 people - thats like playing god, that aint cool and I dont want that on my conscience
All I want to do is get down there and wipe the pilipheral "dust" off the car and get the museum to take advantage of it - have them transport it to shows, possibly in time for the West Fest.
But in doing so, if some people can come see the car while we open discussions with them ( be it 1, 10, 30, or a 1,000 ) then there is a great situation as well
Honestly - if it were up to me, the ten I would personnaly pick would be folks such as Aus, Ogre, Cliff ( everybody owes him ), Smooooth, Archie, and the rest who are talented to document everything to put it all in kit form
I mean 10 people to kinda like pick there nose and check out the car, go home with a few pics and stories - or 10 people who would capture the entire moment for all it's worth such as schematics, kits, conversion ideas, etc.....

At first I thought the fairest way to do it would be to pick the first 10 people that got ahold of you and asked. But once I put aside my selfishness, the people you just mentioned more than deserve the opportunity. They could also get the most out of it. It sure would be cool to see all them together. Sort of like a "Fiero Elite Club" hehe.

looking down the list - the first people to make RSVP are:
Julian Richardson FW club member Chris West FW club member Eric Nelson FW club member Anthony Sisneros FW club member Tessemma Fessemma FW club member Keith Huff FW club member Craig Poeske FW club member Jesse Herrera FW club member John Szpara Golden Gate Al Sanchez forum Arron Martin forum Mike Roseman forum Fahkri Thomas forum Micheal Valentine forum Andrew Pederson forum Rob debrowski forum Eric Shneck forum David Gamache forum Jacob Bigelow forum Fiero Racer forum Phil Huff FOCOA
these are the people that officially called me and emailed me to make reservations in the order in which I have received them - 21 people and all want to bring a guest which would officially make it 42 people.
I will hopefully be hearing from Janice tomorrow about how many people we can get in there and what comprimises we can make. But on the bright side - the car IS there and not going anywhere, anybody can make a reservation via phone or email and see it at anytime you make a reservation for
When FOCOA had their Fiero National at the Pontiac Administration Building and they brought out some of the pro-to-types, Phil Edwards(he was Vice President of C&C and Executive in charge of the entire fiero t-top program, then he purchased C&C division of all the sunroofs and t-tops, which became "Skylite Sunroofs")and I had become good friends so he met me at the show (Let's not talk about how we became friend, let me get back to the story) anyway, he had told me, while we were looking at the pro-to-types that the RED Fiero GT fastback with the t-tops (any of you if you have a picture could you post it) was the "1989 Fiero GT" that the only thing that was changing was the engines (quad 4, 3.1 V6) and on that GT it was getting bigger rims the ones on the GT were 16inch deep dish and that was it for 1989, In "1990" is when the redesigned body styles for the GT and coupes were supposeed to happen! Yeah some articles in books and magizines said the famous pictures you see the GT in black STEALTH or red one or the silver coupe but were "89 Fiero", But NOT the truth, BUT BECAME LAW! Believe me, he would have no reason to bullsh#t me! Just thought I would let the truth be told!

My fiero family brothers or sisters, I know that WCF is doing all he can. In the even that some of us (including myself) don't get to see the actual car, let's think about the important things! This is a chance for some of us newer forum rookies to meet for the first time in person, to chat about our cars and just hang out!!! That is the real important thing. Anyone else from San Diego going? Mom will give me a ride to see the car, but she won't want to stay for any gathering afterword, I would love to hitch a ride back if someone else is from east county San Diego.

The best directions you will get. Type in your address and West Coast Fiero's address. If everything goes as planned, I will be driving from the Seattle area.

I am sure that no one here does not appreciate all that Eric is trying to do, and I understand that he's now in a difficult position. I won't take that away from him. Personally, if I am flying across the country to see a vehicle, that's what I want to do. Hanging out with PFF members is great, but I'm not up for spending mad amounts of cash and flying red-eye flights just to go across the country to hang with friends. I can stay here and do that and save myself $2000 .. I'm planning on flying across the country on a whirlwind trip to see a car, not to sit around a campfire and sing Koombiya songs.

I want to add my two cents to this mess. Like Boomtastic, I am coming for the sole purpose of seeing the Fiero. If I am not going to be able to do that, I would like to know as soon as possible so I can cancel the trip.
