Fiero kits are great, but haven't you noticed the multitude of Lamborghini and Ferrari kits out there? it makes choosing the right kit you want an absolute pain, but I got to thinking of a Fiero kit that would be different that I haven't heard of before... a kit replicating the DeLorean DMC-12.

Just imagine, a DeLorean fiberglass body in the correct DeLorean proportions could easily be made out of a mold. The gullwing doors and hood and trunk lids could be made also out of fiberglass. The kit being in correct DeLorean size would make it easy to obtain original DeLorean parts from places like DeLoreanOne and so on.

A kit would also open up endless doors of opportunity. Just think of a DeLorean Fiero kit painted bright red with grounds effects rollin' on sporty rims with a Northstar pushing it? Or maybe putting an exact replica next to a real one and attempting to tell them apart? Also people could replicate the 'Back to the Future' cars without ruining real DeLoreans to do it.

Like I said, it's just an idea. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please reply.

Do you guys know Deloreans only have 130hp! A Fiero is better to begin with, but gullwing doors would be cool, but it would be tough to duplicate the aluminum look with fiberglass.

What do you mean Aluminum look? DeLoreans were Stainless Steel! They never rusted. They were polished stainless steel with clear coat. Nothing more nothing less...
And yeah, they only had 130 horse to begin with... *sigh* Dammit John! Why didja hafta sell Cocaine to fund your business? LOL

For what it would cost to buy a kit and install it, paint it, trim it out real nice (not to mention what it would cost if you designed your own kit...$$$$$$), you could go buy a nice real Delorean.
Average condition ones don't bring more than 8-10k nowadays, real low mile cream of the crop beauts are under (sometimes WELL under) $20,000 with only a few thousand miles....not too different from 88GT pricing for same condition, really. Its kinda of like the Ferrari 308 thing, it costs as much to make a nice looking kit as it does to buy a nice looking real one.

Now that you guys get to talking about it, maybe a DeLorean kit isn't such a good idea ^_^... Thanks for the input though.

Maybe not a delorean kit, but custom fiberglass gullwing doors would rock. Probably not harder to do than Archie's suicide doors.

I am starting to look into the Delorean type or the scissor doors right now. Looks expensive, but something I'd like to attempt some day.

You can buy a nearly perfect real Delorean for under $20K. Just go get a real one.

I hope this isn't a money making venture.. I know of a Delorean for sale for $9600 right now

I believe ACE sold their Northstar powered Delorean off ebay a while back.

I'm working on a kit for an 88 Fiero GT , it's going to be a bolt on setup , under $2000. It will make your 88 GT look exactly like an 84 Econo coupe.

sorry , I'm a smart ass.

Replicate something cool , but don't expect to ever get your money back out of the project.

I love the DeLorean but you right, it the long run, it would be better to get a real one. Then throw a Northstar in it. http://home.tampabay.rr.com/deloreans/index.htm
http://www.angelfire.com/az3/DeLorean2k/painted.htm

some painted Deloreans for you to drool on

in the second link, select RED, check our the first couple of pics. That DeLorean kicks ass. Hmmm... that front bumper looks like a Pisa Artero front bumper/nose

There's a Delorean here in town for under $10,000!!! Looks like it's in pretty good shape too. If they didn't turn my stomach quite so much, I'd consider it

I still think these would be nice kits. And fairly easy ones to put together too.

A guy in our car club that collects cars has an almost mint red DeLorean for sale. Only thing it needs is windshield and rear glass rubber trim replaced and hes including the new rubbers. He wants $10,000 and its low milage.

WOOHOO! Go Lotus kit! The Esprit Turbo was the car I fell in love with before I knew about the Fiero. I told a friend that the S4 was the car I would own if I had the money. That would be too cool.

Brushed Stainless Steel, not polished. But I bet polished would be awesome! It would look almost like the entire car was chrome!

Yes, but it is rear engined, not mid. The Fiero is a superior design.

I have always wanted to see a Lotus Esprit kit, those cars are beautifull. Why isn't anyone producing such a beauty?
