OUCH. Manners do exist in CA, but I believe the southern states are better at it. I think there's more tention in people's lives out here from the lifestyles they live. It could be blamed on traffic jams and work loads, but those are choices that can be changed. People tend to get used to fending for themselves. Not that it's a bad thing, unless you expect someone to lead you around. It sounds like a misunderstanding in communitcation. I guess being a "tour guide" has more to it than just grouping together at a museum.

Dude, WTF is your problem? First you start off with uncalled for slander, now your just acting stupid.
Let me ask you a question. If one of the most reputable automobile museum's in the WORLD told you they had a certain car, wouldn't you believe them? Eric tried to get pictures of the car, and tried to see it first, but they would not allow it. Finally, he just had to except there word. Given the credentials of this museum, that shouldn't of been a problem.
Now why do you think people got left behind? I will tell you why, we waited....and waited...and waited...and finally left. Only about half the people went out to lunch. The rest back to either home or the shop. If you had been at the shop earlier, why would you not go back their? I don't know about you but if I travelled across the country to see something, I would keep my hopes of not getting lost placed on something better than being able to follow someone in L.A. traffic. In other words, people were bound to get seperated. On the streets AND at the museum. I guess he could of done a role call and everyone could of raised their hands and said "here". Yeah, after that we could of all gone to recess and played on the swings.
Take care of yourself, grow up, and print some maps out before you leave. Its called independance. Its a great thing too. Thats not to say WCF shouldn't of tried to help people out. BUT THEY DID!!! Maps were drawn up, directions were given, and we waited for everyone to show up. If your going to keep hurling insults, recess is at 11. Give me your hand though, don't want you to get lost.

wow i'm sorry that you guys had to go through that. rob, i guess you're right. things are much different here. i can't believe that they would just leave you there with no way of getting back. you don't just abandon people who are on a tour (as in a group that generally stays together) in a place they had never even been before. i'm glad i live on the east coast (i'm sure its not all west-coasters, but it certainly doesn't give the wc a good rep)

Give me a break!. Well, I posted this on the other thread, and obviously it is just as topical here too:
I think the real issue here as far as the waaay out of towners goes, wasn't so much the fact that the 89-90 wasn't there. It also wasn't that those that traveled so far didn't have maps, or directions or other places to go. It was the fact that WCF set this weekend event up, with the MAIN attraction of the weekend being the non existent 89-90 Fiero. WCF were the hosts. If you are a guest and/or visitor in the hands of the hosts/event coordinators, you tend to believe when they say they will have everything set up, especially for those coming litterally from the other side of the country. This is what they led everyone to believe, and these people took them at their word. If Boomtastic, Ms. Beth, Chester, Elvira and others had been led to believe that once the tour was over, everyone was litterally on their own minutes after it was done, I bet they would have prepared a little differently. Don't you?
Now, the 89-90 prototype Fiero turns into a big -ooops-, and once the tour is over apparently the "hosts" blasted outa there and tried to wipe their hands clean of the mess. "Oh, some had other appointments, had to go to work, blah, blah blah. Nice try. The 89-90 screw up may not have been directly WCF's fault, but they certainly didn't do anything to make the rest of the weekend memorable for anyone, instead they blasted outa there leaving them all behind not knowing what was going on. Nice hosts.
"(did you want everyone to hold hands and then take roll at the end of the day? Is that the kind of organization that you need?)"
This attitude of wanting Boomtastic and other "guests" to stop whining about wanting someone to have held their hands is just plain rediculous. It is THIS attitude which is what they are saying they didn't like. They didn't like it then, and they certainly do not like it now either. As for some others who have posted their feelings on this including myself, we obviously don't like hearing this kinda attitude within the Fiero community either.
Obviously their were some who didn't do enough investigating before advertising what they did. OK, maybe the museum wouldn't allow a sneak peak. Maybe the museum didn't really know what they had. Maybe the museum didn't have knowledgeable employees. Maybe, maybe, maybe. You can't tell me that WCF being not far from the museum, couldn't go talk to, call or e-mail someone else at the museum until they found someone that was "in the know". But the big boo boo here was that WCF didn't show any hospitality once the tour/main event was over. They then didn't show any remorse for what happened. No opology, no nothing. Even if they had been duped a bit themselves, they still should have remembered that they were the hosts and event cooordinators for the trip >to and from< the museum.
I wasn't there either. However, I know Chester, Elvira, Boomtastic and Ms. Beth personally. They are not whiners or cry babies. They don't need people to hold their hands. They are nice people who obviously had a bad situation made worst by hosts who have no clue how to show any hosptitality. WCF and a few others are the ones crying the loudest, complaining about others the longest, stating over and over that it wasn't "their" fault, and insulting the intelligence of their guests after "they" left their guests standing alone wondering what was going on and wondering where everyone went. It obviously went from bad to worse.
Instead of WCF and some of it's freinds/club cronies attacking these nice people, they should instead be feeling embarrased and at least opologizing for being such poor hosts after the fact. Not that at this point that it may help any this late in the game. They shouldn't have done it to them in the first place. I see a few like stimpy, grinthock and artherd saying that Boomtastic and others should have acted like grown ups. I think we on the forum can easily see who are the ones who should be acting like grown ups.
The big crime here was really the poor coordination, hospitality and attitude by WCF, not so much the museums possible screw up of not knowing what they had. Added now attitudes from some (most from those trying to defend WCF-very poorly I might add) that are just making it worse.
I see a sad, sad example by WCF and those who want to defend them of what it means to be proud members of a great Fiero community. WCF, you embarrased the rest of us with this poor handling of the whole situation. You and your idiotic defenders should all be ashamed of yourselves.
Steve

Well, finally made it back! Gotta say last night was a BLAST! Best time I had in YEARS! Thanks Boomtastic and Ms Beth! The actual trip was flawless except for the obvious. Even had DSL in the suite! Anyway, for those interested I'll be setting up a web site with all the pics taken at the Petersen as well as some video clips of the trip to the museum and some inside the vault (if my camcorder doesn’t eat the damn tape again!) We have a total of 300+ pics of Fieros and folks at West Coast Fieros and the exhibits at the Petersen and of course the pics of the IMSA 84 Fiero. Also have some shots of the surrounding area. I have to admit that what I saw of Cali I really liked. It's not every where that you see not one but 2 bright red Ferraris whining down the twisties. Really cool. Anyhoo, I'll be calling the museum tomorrow and following it up by a formal letter. Have I known what the car was I would not have gone. To be honest I had my reservations from the start but decided to gamble and go anyway. Wasn't counting on the mixup (for lack of better words) and that kind of spoiled some of the fun, but we made up for it in the end.
Sorry for those who took the trip and were dumped on their @ss.

Well, now that it is safe to enter here, Is it possible that Peterson's bought the car believing it was as advertised?? And never looked into it?? I mean, someone obviously advertised it as the genuine thing to WCF. Evidently it has been believed to be the 89 for a while anyway, long before this tour was planned.

All I have to say on that subject is Petersen’s is supposed to be THE AUTORITY on automobile history. This IS a museum. How could you mistake an 84 IMSA rebody with an 89/90 prototype? Hell, everyone here knows more about it then they did and they had the car for some time judging buy all the dust and dirt all over it.

I beg to differ with you, but i was standing by other Fiero people there and when a small group including Eric, walked off, NO ONE ever said it was time to go. They just left. We came out of the gift shop by the door we came in and there was NO ONE there. We go outside only to see a bunch of Fieros' taillights as they sped by us! Map?? The guys at WCF were complaining about the maps BEFORE we even left their shop. I am sorry, but a little common courtesy for out-of-towners would have been appreciated. Think about it. If you KNEW people had flew 3000+ miles to view a car, and you KNEW it ended up the way it did, wouldn't you at least try to show the visitors a good time?? I will leave it at that. Thanks..

I would like to thank the California folks -the ones that were so nice to us. Al~ sorry to hear the coat hanger didn't work for you.
I would also like to thank Elvira, Chester and Boom for making my trip to California one that I will never forget- (except that chunk I'm missing from Saturday night hehe)
The weather was perfect, our hotel was the bomb, the drive through Laurel Canyon (sp?) was one of the most beautiful I have ever been on.
So thank you to all that made my first(and only) trip to California so memorable
And thanks for holding my hand on all the landings and take offs Boomer- you're the best.
To WCF - sorry you got lied to - that is stllno reason to leave us behind, if you invite folks from across the country to visit you (personally- at your home) do you hand them a map - take them into LA and then wave goodbye - or do you make sure the out of towners are taken care of - Hell the locals know the lay out - and are use to your "ways". Frankly we are use to a more "community" type attitude. This was a total disappointment- and has left a bad taste in my mouth for WCF. Chris seemed very nice as did Eric N however actions speak louder than words guys... your actions are not flattering to either of you. It was your club event- you are responsible for what happened ~you left us behind. JMHO!
